  1. 11. The effect of human cytomegalovirus on innate immune responses : immune activation and evasion

    Författare :Madeleine Cederarv; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) is a wide-spread virus infecting about 60-90 % of the healthy human population. After a primary infection, the virus establishes life-long latency in its host. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Ecology and evolution in a host-parasitoid system : Host search, immune responses and parasitoid virulence

    Författare :Lisa Fors; Peter Hambäck; Wertheim Bregje; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Host-parasitoid interactions; Plant-herbivore interactions; Host search; Volatiles; Pheromones; Geographic variation; Cellular defence; Melanisation; Encapsulation; Asecodes; Galerucella; Plant Ecology; växtekologi;

    Sammanfattning : In host-parasitoid systems, there is a continuous coevolutionary arms race where each species imposes a strong selection pressure on the other. The host needs to develop defence strategies in order to escape parasitism and the parasitoid must evolve counter-defence strategies in order to overcome the host’s immune defence and successfully reproduce. 3. 13. Mechanisms of immune dysfunction in human lymphomas

    Författare :Jan Sjöberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Accumulating data suggest that tumor-induced immune dysfunction counteracts presumptively efficient tumor-specific immune responses, and thus contributes to disease progression. In the present work, focus was given on immune dysfunction and the underlying mechanisms in two human lymphomas, Hodgkin's disease (HD) and B cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B-CLL). LÄS MER

  4. 14. Recognition by and escape from CD8+ T cell immune surveillance in cancer bearing hosts

    Författare :Koji Kono; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : CD8+ T cells ( TCD8+ ) can specifically recognize tumor cells through MHC class I molecules associated with peptides that are 8-l0 amino acid residues long. In recent years, a number of tumor-associated antigens, or their epitopes, have been identified and characterized with the advent of new methods in molecular biology and in peptide isolation. 5. 15. T-cell mediated control of Epstein-Barr virus infection : viral mechanisms of immune escape

    Författare :Jelena Vladmirovna Levitskaya; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Epstein-Barr virus; Cytotoxic T lymphocyte; CTL epitope; viral immunescape;

    Sammanfattning : Mechanisms regulating the immunogenicity of Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV)-encoded CTL peptide epitopes and their contribution to the escape of virus infected cells from CTL-mediated immunosurveillance were the subject of these studies. It was demonstrated that two HLA A11-restricted CTL epitopes of EBV nuclear antigen (EBNA)-4 (designated IVT and AVF) possessed different immunogenicity that appeared to be due to a rapid surface turnover of All molecules containing the AVF peptide.
