  1. 1. T-cell mediated control of Epstein-Barr virus infection : viral mechanisms of immune escape

    Författare :Jelena Vladmirovna Levitskaya; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Epstein-Barr virus; Cytotoxic T lymphocyte; CTL epitope; viral immunescape;

    Sammanfattning : Mechanisms regulating the immunogenicity of Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV)-encoded CTL peptide epitopes and their contribution to the escape of virus infected cells from CTL-mediated immunosurveillance were the subject of these studies. It was demonstrated that two HLA A11-restricted CTL epitopes of EBV nuclear antigen (EBNA)-4 (designated IVT and AVF) possessed different immunogenicity that appeared to be due to a rapid surface turnover of All molecules containing the AVF peptide. 2. 2. Strategies to optimize T cell-based cancer immunotherapy

    Författare :Simona Vertuani; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MHC class 1; CTL; DNA vaccine; HER-2; Retinoic acid;

    Sammanfattning : Remarkable progress has been made in the field of tumor immunology in the past decade but active immunotherapy is not yet an established treatment modality. Tumor associated antigens (TAAs) presented in the form of peptides in association with MHC class 1 can be recognized by T cells and represent major targets of immunotherapy strategies to treat cancer patients. 3. 3. Processing of live and heat inactivated Sendai virus for presentation on MHC class I molecules

    Författare :Tianmin Liu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :antigen presentation; antigen processing; APC; CTL; MHC class1; peptides; Sendai virus; TAP;

    Sammanfattning : The present thesis deals with processing of antigens from live and heat inactivated Sendai virus and their loading on MHC class I molecules for presentation to CTL. In paper I it was observed surprisingly that T2 cells (T2 cells transfected with H-2Kb), being defective in the expression of TAP peptide transporters, still presented Sendai virus antigen on MHC class I molecules to CTL. 4. 4. Enhancing T cell mediated immunity in DNA vaccination

    Författare :Jan Alvar Lindencrona; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :DNA vaccination; CTL; T cell; IFN-gamma; anti-tumor immunity; HER-2 neu; Influenza; LCMV; Virus-Like Particles; murine models; adjuvants; immunotherapy;

    Sammanfattning : For centuries infectious diseases have been one of the main causes of death in the world. With the invention of vaccine technology 200 years ago, we have been able to impede and even eradicate several dangerous pathogens. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Binding and immunogenicity of MHC class-I specific peptides and glycopeptides

    Författare :Ussama M Abdel-Motal; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Short synthetic MHC class I (MHC-I) Db and Kb binding peptides were found to be strongly immunogenic and capable of inducing virus-specific cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) responses. Restimulation of primed splenocytes with a low peptide concentration generated optimal CTL responses. LÄS MER
