    Sammanfattning : Despite the significant advancements in aircraft engine technology over the past years, the aerodynamics of engine-realistic turbine rear structures (TRS) remain largely unexplored. The TRS, a structural and aerodynamic component situated downstream of the low-pressure turbine (LPT), plays a pivotal role in engine aerodynamic performance, deswirling the LPT flow to maximize the engine thrust.     Sammanfattning : This thesis presents instrumentation developments and measurements performed at the Double ElectroStatic Ion Ring ExpEriment, DESIREE, at Stockholm University. DESIREE operates at cryogenic temperatures ~13 K, with very low background pressures of ~10-14mbar, allowing the observation of stored ions to long times of tens of seconds and longer. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : In the introductory part of this thesis, I briefly review quantum statistichal mechanics; quantum field theory with external fields; the real and imaginary time formalisms in thermal field theory; and the hard thermal loop resummation. In the second part, consisting of here reprinted research articles, we apply this to quantum electrodynamics and quantum chromodynamics with a background (chromo-) magnetic field in the presence of a heat and charge reservoir.     Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with turbulent flows in 90 degree curved pipes of circular cross-section. The flow cases investigated experimentally are turbulent flow with and without an additional motion, swirling or pulsating, superposed on the primary flow. LÄS MER
