2. Hot and Dense Gauge Theories with External Fields
Sammanfattning : In the introductory part of this thesis, I briefly review quantum statistichal mechanics; quantum field theory with external fields; the real and imaginary time formalisms in thermal field theory; and the hard thermal loop resummation. In the second part, consisting of here reprinted research articles, we apply this to quantum electrodynamics and quantum chromodynamics with a background (chromo-) magnetic field in the presence of a heat and charge reservoir. 3. Simulation based evaluation of flexible transit
Sammanfattning : Transport authorities are faced with the challenge of making effective use of existing transportation infrastructure under increasing needs of transport accessibility, sustainability, and safety. The ongoing growth and adoption of shared mobility options, the anticipation of automated vehicles, and the increased availability of real-time data brought on with the developments of Intelligent Transport Systems, have all inspired many innovations in public transit design. 4. Constitutive and fatigue crack propagation behaviour of Inconel 718
Sammanfattning : In this licentiate thesis the work done in the TURBO POWER project Influence of high temperature hold times on the fatigue life of nickel-based superalloys will be presented. The overall objective of this project is to develop and evaluate tools for designing against fatigue in gas turbine applications, with special focus on the nickel-based superalloy Inconel 718. 5. Design and Optimization under Uncertainties : A Simulation and Surrogate Model Based Approach
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with development of complex products via modeling and simulation, and especially the use of surrogate models to decrease the computational efforts when probabilistic optimizations are performed. Many methods that can be used to perform probabilistic optimizations exist and this thesis strives to present and demonstrate the capabilities of a few of them. LÄS MER
