  1. 1. Individual and environmental risk factors for hand eczema in hospital workers

    Författare :Eskil Nilsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hand eczema; prospective study; hospital workers; irritants; contact allergy; contact urticaria; atopy; metal dermatitis; multivariate regression analysis; evaluation of risk factors; microflora; S. aureus in hand eczema;

    Sammanfattning : Individual and environmental risk factors in hand eczema have been investigated in a prospective cohort study of 2452 newly employed hospital workers with a follow-up time of 20 months. Current hand eczema was analyzed in 142 wet hospital workers from this cohort with respect to the etiologic importance of irritants, allergens and contact urticants. LÄS MER

  2. 2. What contributes to human body burdens of halogenated flame retardants? : An experimental approach

    Författare :Joo Hui Tay; Cynthia de Wit; Ulla Sellström; Jochen Mueller; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; halogenated flame retardants; air; dust; hand wipes; duplicate diet; serum; human exposure; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Flame retardants (FRs) are chemicals added to a broad range of consumer products such as textiles, electrical and electronic equipment, furniture and building material to meet flammability requirements. Most of these chemicals are additives that can continuously leach out from the applied products during usage. LÄS MER

  3. 3. What contributes to human body burdens of phthalate esters? : An experimental approach

    Författare :Georgios Giovanoulis; Cynthia A. de Wit; Jörgen Magnér; Brice Appenzeller; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Phthalates; Alternative plasticizers; DINCH; In vivo screening; Urine; Nails; Air; Dust; Hand wipes; Duplicate diet; Predictors of exposure; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Phthalate esters (PEs) and alternative plasticizers used as additives in numerous consumer products are continuously released into the environment leading to subsequent human exposure. The ubiquitous presence and potential adverse health effects (e.g. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Towards sustainability of environmental protection : recovery of nutrients from wastewater filtration and the washing of arsenic contaminated soils

    Författare :Lea Rastas Amofah; Helen French; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Conventional methods for wastewater treatment and remediation of the sites withcontaminated soils focus on protection of human health, receiving waters and theenvironment. Towards this end, these methods concentrate on the reduction or removal of polluting substances, and therefore, are not well suited for creating resources through the recovery of nutrients, energy and decontaminated soils. 5. 5. Exposure to skin irritants : validation of questions and epidemiological aspects

    Författare :Ingegärd Anveden; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Correlation; epidemiology; gender; gloves; hand disinfection; high-risk occupation; observation; self-report; skin irritant; survey; validation; water; wet work;

    Sammanfattning : Hand eczema is common, and is the most frequent occupational skin disease. Exposure to skin irritants contributes to hand eczema. Common skin irritants are water, detergents, chemicals and foodstuffs. LÄS MER
