  1. 11. Anxiety, exhaustion and depression in relation to periodontal diseases

    Författare :Annsofi Johannsen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Anxiety; stress; depression; gingival inflammation; periodontal diseases; smoking; inflammatory markers; cortisol; HPA axis;

    Sammanfattning : Periodontal diseases (gingivitis and periodontitis), are inflammatory processes of the gingiva and supporting structures of the teeth induced by a microbial biofilm. In periodontitis this inflammatory process causes tissue degradation and eventually tooths loss. LÄS MER

  2. 12. On the role of plasma proteins in bacterial adhesion to dental surfaces

    Författare :Stefan G Rüdiger; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Bacterial receptors in dental pellicles could influence colonisation and subsequent plaque formation. Studies of such receptors in dental pellicles and bacterial adherence have often focused on proteins of salivary origin. We have only a limited knowledge of the receptor functions of plasma proteins reaching the pellicle via the crevicular fluid. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Expression of prostaglandin E synthase-1 in periodontitis : in vivo and in vitro studies

    Författare :Anna Kats; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by destruction of the supporting structures of the teeth, including gingival tissues and alveolar bone. In advanced cases of periodontitis the ultimate clinical outcome is tooth loss. LÄS MER

  4. 14. The role of peridontitis and hepatocyte growth factor in systemic inflammation

    Författare :Johanna Lönn; Torbjörn Bengtsson; Fariba Nayeri; Anders Gustafsson; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hepatocyte growth factor; Porphyromonas gingivalis; periodontitis; systemic inflammation; coronary artery disease; chronic renal failure; lipoxin; Biomedicin; Biomedicine;

    Sammanfattning : An essential goal in addressing inflammation is the return of tissue to homeostasis. Persistent infections often cause prolonged response and accumulation of immune cells, inducing imbalance in pro- and anti-inflammatory mediators, tissue destruction, and chronic inflammation. 5. 15. Periodontal implications of Salvadora persica L

    Författare :Reham A Al-Babtain; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Periodontal disease is a major public health problem throughout the world and is the most common cause of tooth loss in adults. For periodontitis to develop, specific gram-negative, anaerobic bacteria must predominate in the subgingival microflora, but simple the presence of these bacteria is insufficient to cause periodontal disease as disease progression involves a complex, sequential relationship between infection, inflammation and tissue destruction.
