  1. 1. Crustal architecture of the Kiruna mining district : Structural framework, geological modeling, and physical rock property distribution

    Författare :Ervin Csaba Veress; Tobias Bauer; Stefan Luth; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Kiruna mining district; geological modeling; structural framework; common earth modeling; petrophysical characterization; mineral exploration; iron oxide-apatite; Ore Geology; Malmgeologi;

    Sammanfattning : Rapid technological advancements and growing environmental consciousness created a shifting dynamic of metal demand within the context of contemporary global challenges. The metals play a pivotal role in this transformation and remarkable surge in demand is expected. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Residual Trapping in Geological Storage of CO2 : Determination from Field Experiments and Data Analysis Using Numerical Modeling

    Författare :Saba Joodaki; Auli Niemi; Zhibing Yang; Jonathan Ennis-King; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Residual trapping; CO2 geological storage; Dissolution trapping; Field experiment; numerical modeling; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot miljöanalys; Earth Science with specialization in Environmental Analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Geological storage of CO2 in deep saline aquifers is one of the methods to mitigate the release of this greenhouse gas into the atmosphere. The efficiency of this solution can be improved by better understanding of the relevant trapping processes, as well as by improving available injection techniques and developing tools for more accurate site characterization. 3. 3. Reflection seismic investigation in the Skellefte ore district : A basis for 3D/4D geological modeling

    Författare :Mahdieh Dehghannejad; Christopher Juhlin; Ari Tryggvason; Charles Hurich; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Skellefte district; reflection seismic; mineral exploration; 3D 4D modeling; mineralization; faults and shear zones; Geofysik med inriktning mot fasta jordens fysik; Geophysics with specialization in Solid Earth Physics;

    Sammanfattning : The Skellefte ore district in northern Sweden is a Palaeoproterozoic volcanic arc and one of the most important ones hosting volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) deposits, producing mainly base metals and orogenic gold deposits. Due to high metal prices and increased difficulties in finding shallow deposits, the exploration for and exploitation of mineral resources is quickly being moved to greater depths. LÄS MER

  4. 4. On the Late Saalian glaciation : A climate modeling study

    Författare :Florence Colleoni; Martin Jakobsson; Johan Nilsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Climate modeling; Eurasian ice sheet; Quaternary; Saalian; surface mass balance; SST; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap; Marine Geoscience; marin geovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the glaciation of the Late Saalian period (160 -140 ka) over Eurasia. The Quaternary Environment of the Eurasian North (QUEEN) project determined that during this period, the Eurasian ice sheet was substantially larger than during the entire Weichselian cycle and especially that of the Last Glacial Maximum (21 ka, LGM). 5. 5. Caving mechanisms for a non-daylighting orebody

    Författare :Sraj Umar Banda; Jonny Sjöberg; Björn Nilsen; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sublevel caving; numerical analysis; laser scanning; seismic data; large-scale structure; rock mass characterization; failure mechanism; discontinuum modeling; continuum modeling; caving analysis; voronoi modeling; bonded block model; Mining and Rock Engineering; Gruv- och berganläggningsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The sublevel caving mining method is a mass production method with potentially very low operational costs. The success of this method is dependent on, among other factors, the cavability of the orebody and the overlying rock mass. LÄS MER
