  1. 21. Walking efficiently with smart springs

    Författare :Israel Luis; Elena Gutierrez-Farewik; Ruoli Wang; Benjamin J. Fregly; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Musculoskeletal modeling and simulation; muscle-tendon biomechanics; muscle parameter calibration; metabolic energy models; gait analysis; exoskeleton assistance; biomechanics; Biomekanisk modellering och simulering; rörelseorganen; biomekanik; muskel; muskelmodell och muskelarkitektur; metabolisk energi och kostnad; gång; gånganalys; exoskelett; hjälpmedel; gångpatologi; Teknisk mekanik; Engineering Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : Numerous assistive exoskeletons have been developed in recent years to assist walking in individuals with and without motor disorders. A standard metric to measure the efficacy of assistance is the change in the metabolic energy cost between unassisted and assisted conditions. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Gait in patients with knee osteoarthritis : effects of preoperative physical therapy and two surgical interventions

    Författare :Margareta Börjesson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Gait; high tibial osteotomy; osteoarthritis; knee; pain; physical therapy; treatment outcome; unicompartmental knee arthroplasty; walking; walking speed;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Knee osteoarthritis is a common joint disease with impact on all different aspects of health. This thesis will focus on time and distance measurements of gait and clinical tests in patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA). The overall perspective of the thesis is that of a physical therapist. 3. 23. Fall-related concerns, balance and gait in older adults with osteoporosis

    Författare :Alexandra Halvarsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Aim: The overall aim of this thesis was to evaluate the short- and long-term effects of a specific and progressive balance-training programme, focusing on dual- and multi-task exercises, with respect to fall-related concerns, gait, balance performance and physical function in older adults with osteoporosis. Furthermore, to evaluate the reliability and validity of the Falls Efficacy Scale-International questionnaire, and to explore perceptions of fall-related concerns and balance after participating in the balance-training programme. 4. 24. Feasibility and efficacy of incorporating an exoskeleton in gait training during subacute stroke rehabilitation

    Författare :Anneli Wall; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Hemiparesis is the most common acute manifestation of stroke and often has a strong negative impact on walking ability leaving one third of patients dependent in walking activities outside one’s home. Improved methods for training of gait during stroke rehabilitation could tackle the challenge of achieving independent walking and promote better outcomes. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Analysis of body motions based on optical markers. Accuracy, error analysis and clinical applications

    Författare :Roy Tranberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Instrumented gait analysis Motion analysis Skin markers Optical tracking system;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis aims to evaluate the influence of soft-tissue artefacts on analyses of body motions based on optical markers. A second aim is to apply instrumented gait analysis in clinical situations. Introduction: Instrumented gait analysis has been used since 1960 as a clinical evaluation/investigative tool at orthopaedic clinics. LÄS MER
