  1. 1. Forest for rest : recovery from exhaustion disorder

    Författare :Elisabet Sonntag-Öström; Lisbeth Slunga Järvholm; Ann Dolling; Ylva Lundell; Maria Nordin; Marie Åsberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Burnout; nature-assisted therapy; rehabilitation; forestry; stress disorders; environmental medicine; restoration; human health; well-being; folkhälsa; Public health;

    Sammanfattning : Background Exhaustion disorder (ED) is a common mental and behavioural disorder which often leads to severe negative consequences for the individual and the society. Natural environments have positive effects on mental, physiological and attentional recovery in stressed persons, which encouraged us to test if forest visits could improve recovery from ED. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Strain Gradient Plasticity Modelling of Precipitation Strengthening

    Författare :Mohammadali Asgharzadeh; Jonas Faleskog; Samuel Forest; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : The introduction of particles and precipitates into a matrix material results in strengthening effects. The two main mechanisms involved in this matter are referred to as Orowan and shearing. To numerically study this phenomenon is the motivation to the research done, which is presented here in this thesis. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Närheter och avstånd i ett nordvärmländskt skogslandskap : Praktiker och betydelser i nya tidsrumsliga sammanhang

  4. 4. Spatial forest resource competition: an economic study : How increased competition and production flexibility affect woody feedstock markets

    Författare :Elias Olofsson; Robert Lundmark; Hanne Kathrine Sjölie; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Economics; Nationalekonomi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the Swedish forestry and forest industry sectors, together with their adjoining markets, and examines how these sectors are currently positioned to meet future developments and demands. For this purpose, four specific research questions are formulated, focusing on: (1) the structural composition of forest industry sector and how it will be affected by an increasing feedstock competition; (2) the production flexibility of the forest industry; (3) the resource allocation and price effects from increased feedstock competition; and (4) the potential implications from improved harvesting efficiency. 5. 5. Methane exchange in a boreal forest: : the role of soils vegetation and forest management

    Författare :Elin Sundqvist; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; chamber measurements; gradient measurements; clear-cut; topography; water table depth;

    Sammanfattning : Popular Abstract in English Forests have a positive impact on the level of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere because they absorb carbon dioxide through photosynthesis and store carbon in the soil. Moreover, many forests function as a sink for the greenhouse gas methane (CH4). LÄS MER
