    Sammanfattning : A chute spillway is a typical component of large dams for discharging floods. Because of the high water head, the flow velocity in the chute is often in excess of 20 m/s. Consequently, the structure is usually prone to cavitation damages. Flow aeration is evidenced to efficiently eliminate or to mitigate the damages. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Abdominal aortic aneurysm inception and evolution - A computational model

    Författare :Andrii Grytsan; T. Christian Gasser; Martin Kroon; Frans N. van de Vosse; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Aorta; Aneurysm; AAA; Blood Flow; Wall Shear Stress; Growth and Remodeling; Mixture Model; Growth Kinematics; Fluid-Solid-Growth; Aorta; Aneurysm; AAA; Blodflöde; Vägg Skjuvspänning; Tillväxt och Strukturförändring; Blandning Modell; Tillväxt Kinematik; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is characterized by a bulge in the abdominal aorta. AAA development is mostly asymptomatic, but such a bulge may suddenly rupture, which is associated with a high mortality rate. Unfortunately, there is no medication that can prevent AAA from expanding or rupturing. LÄS MER

  4. 19. A Numerical Study of the Fluid Dynamics of Bubbling Fluidized Beds

    Författare :Hans Enwald; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; validation; two-phase solver; multiblock; statistical bubble parameters; parallelization; bed expansion ratio; bubbling fluidized bed; two-fluid model;

    Sammanfattning : The two-fluid model was evaluated as a tool for predicting local flow behaviour in bubbling fluidized beds. A review is given of the two-fluid model approach for simulation of the flow in bubbling fluidized beds. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Fluid Mechanics of Solid-Liquid Suspensions – An Experimental and Numerical Study

    Författare :Torbjörn Virdung; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; multiphase; soalescence; confined jet; computational fluid dynamics; stirred vessel; laser doppler velocimetry; particle image velocimetry; solid-liquid suspension; pitched blade; gas-liquid;

    Sammanfattning : Multiphase flows are common in many applications in chemical, mineral, biochemical and several other process industries. Examples of equipment in which multiphase flows are encountered are stirred vessels and multiphase jets, in which suspensions are agitated by an impeller in the former case and distributed through a nozzle in the latter.
