  1. 1. Advanced power cycles with mixture as the working fluid

    Författare :Maria Jonsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :power cycle; mixture working fluid; Kalina cycle; ammonia-water mixture; reciprocating internal combustion engine; bottoming cycle; gas turbine; evaporative gas turbine; air-water mixture; exergy;

    Sammanfattning : The world demand for electrical power increasescontinuously, requiring efficient and low-cost methods forpower generation. This thesis investigates two advanced powercycles with mixtures as the working fluid: the Kalina cycle,alternatively called the ammonia-water cycle, and theevaporative gas turbine cycle. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Pressurized Fluid Extraction : A Sustainable Technique with Added Values

    Författare :Monica Waldebäck; Karin Markides; Åke Bergman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical chemistry; ASE; biomass; green chemistry; household waste; lipid; pesticide; PFE; pressurized fluid extraction; sediment; Analytisk kemi; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The challenge for the future was defined by the Brundtland Commission (1987) and by the Rio Declaration (1992), in which the fundamental principles for achieving a sustainable development were provided. Sustainable chemistry can be defined as the contribution of chemistry to the implementation of the Rio Declaration. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Experimental studies of large particles in Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids

    Författare :Sagar Zade; Luca Brandt; Fredrik Lundell; Ellen Longmire; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; turbulence; finite-size; particle-laden flows; duct flow; pipe flow; viscoelastic fluid; viscoplastic fluid; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : In everyday human life, laminar flow is arguably an exception whereas turbulent flow is the norm. Yet, the former has been much better understood, naturally since laminar flow renders itself to treatment in a relatively easier fashion compared to turbulence with its chaotic dynamics across multiple scales in space and time. 4. 4. Interior Flow and Formation of Plain Orifice Sprays

    Författare :Zachary Falgout; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Ballistic Imaging; Sprays; Fluid Mechanics; Mixture Formation;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis will summarize recent experimental observations of spray formation in highly atomizing plainorifce sprays, the kind commonly produced by fuel injectors in compression ignition internal combustionengines. Two special interactions will be addressed in detail: primary atomization under elevated ambientpressures and temperatures and orifce ow effects on primary atomization. LÄS MER

  5. 5. A Realizable Hybrid Mixture-Bubble Model for Cavitating Flows

    Författare :Ebrahim Ghahramani; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Multi-scale model; Homogeneous mixture model; Cavitation; Disperse multiphase flow; Eulerian-Lagrangian model; OpenFOAM;

    Sammanfattning : Cavitating multi-phase flows include an extensive range of cavity structures with different length scales, from micro bubbles to large sheet cavities that may fully cover the surface of a device. To avoid high computational expenses, incompressible transport equation models are considered a practical option for simulation of large scale cavitating flows, normally with limited representation of the small scale vapour structures.
