16. Cardiorespiratory function of euryhaline teleosts - Regulatory mechanisms, effects of warming and costs of osmoregulation
Sammanfattning : Teleost fishes have colonized almost every aquatic habitat on earth and exhibit adaptations that allow them to thrive in environments with very diverse physico-chemical properties. One fundamental environmental variable in aquatic ecosystems is salinity, as most fish species are only able to tolerate a narrow range of salinities. LÄS MER
17. Laser-based Measurements connected to Fish Migration
Sammanfattning : Hydropower is one of the main sources for Sweden’s energy, which is clean and renewable. It is a clean energy source because no fuels are burned which does not pollute the air and it is a renewable energy source as it only uses natural water cycle for generating energy. LÄS MER
18. Molecular evolution of the neuropeptide Y receptor family : Insights from mammals and fish
Sammanfattning : Most genes in the genomes of vertebrates form families with multiple members that are more or less closely related. This thesis concerns investigations of the neuropeptide Y (NPY) family of peptides and the family of receptors to which these peptides bind, the NPY receptors. LÄS MER
19. Characterization of Aeromonas, Enterobacteriaceae, Pseudomonas, Bacillus and Lactobacillus spontaneously growing to high numbers in milk, minced meat, fish or cheese
Sammanfattning : The spoilage flora of refrigerated raw and pasteurized milk was classified and identified by numerical phenotypic analysis. Isolations of bacteria were made at a defined spoilage stage, when the total aerobic count was 106-107 cfu per ml. The secondary flora of ripened Swedish and Norwegian cheeses was investigated by numerical analysis. LÄS MER
20. Exploring the resilience in coral reefs
Sammanfattning : Considering the unprecedented global decline of coral reefs concerns about their future existence are well-justified. Safeguarding ecological resilience (i.e. the capacity of ecosystems to absorb disturbance without changing their identity) has become a prime goal for management in order to combat further degradation of coral reefs.
