  2. 2. Amyloid β peptide: from monomer solubility to fibril structure

    Författare :Veronica Lattanzi; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Alzheimer´s disease; Aβ solubility; small angle scattering; number of filaments; Aβ40; Aβ42 and Aβ42 S26Q ; fibril structure;

    Sammanfattning : Alzheimer´s disease (AD) is the most common human neuro-degenerative disease characterized by the formation of cerebral plaques. Several are the amyloid-beta (Aβ) variants found in the brain of healthy individuals. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Structural Elements in Native Celluloses

    Författare :Kristina Wickholm; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :cellulose I; accessible fibril surfaces; inaccessible fibril surfaces; para-crystalline cellulose; fibril aggregates; CP MAS 13C-NMR spectroscopy; spectral fitting; PCA; PLS;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, a schematic model for the structure ofaggregated cellulose I fibrils is proposed. The model consistsof a crystalline fibril core surrounded by less orderedcellulose forms. These cellulose forms are fibril surfacesaccessible to water, fibril surfaces inaccessible to water andpara-crystalline cellulose. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Localized and systemic AL-amyloidosis : Aspects on protein structure, fibril formation and analytical methods

    Författare :Karen Ege Olsen; Jakob B. Natvig; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : AL-amyloidosis is a protein storage disease and one of the most common types of amyloidosis. The precursor protein is a monoclonal immunoglobulin light chain which originates from plasma cell dyscrasia in systemic AL-amyloidosis and is probably produced by a local plasma cell clone in localized AL-amyloidosis. 5. 5. Structural changes during cellulose composite processing

    Författare :Helena Halonen; Monica Ek; Tommy Iversen; Derek D. Gray; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; CP MAS 13C NMR; cellulose; fibril aggregation; biocomposite; compression moulding; supramolecular structure;

    Sammanfattning : Two approaches for creating a new all-cellulose composite material have been studied: the biosynthesis of compartmentalised bacterial cellulose fibril aggregates and the compression moulding of commercial chemical wood pulps processed with only water. The objective was to study the structural changes during processing and the complexity of relating the mechanical properties of the final biocomposites to the nanoscale structure was highlighted.
