  1. 21. Marine oolites as proxies for palaeoenvironmental reconstructions during extinction events

    Författare :Ingrid Urban; Berggrundsgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ooids; Permian-Triassic boundary; Triassic-Jurassic Boundary; Arabian Platform; Southern Alps; palaeoenvironmental reconstruction;

    Sammanfattning : At present time, it has been stated that “Human activities, principally through emissions of greenhouse gases, have unequivocally caused global warming, with global surface temperature reaching 1.1°C above 1850–1900 in 2011–2020”. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Pollen productivity estimates and pollen-based reconstructions of Holocene vegetation cover in Northern and temperate China for climate modelling

    Författare :Furong Li; Marie-José Gaillard; Mary E. Edwards; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; climate; pollen-vegetation relationships; relative pollen productivity; REVEALS model; anthropogenic land-cover change; Holocene; China; Paleoecology; Paleoekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Model projections of future climate change require that coupled climate-vegetation models are developed and validated, i.e. these models should be able to reproduce past climate and vegetation change. Records of pollen deposited in lake bottoms and peat bogs can provide the information needed to validate these models. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Early Palaeozoic jawed polychaetes with focus on polychaetaspids and ramphoprionids from the Silurian of Gotland, Sweden

    Författare :Mats Eriksson; Berggrundsgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fysisk geografi; Geologi; physical geography; Geology; chemistry; palaeobiogeography; palaeoecology; taxonomy; apparatus reconstructions; Silurian; Recent; Ordovician; early Palaeozoic; scolecodonts; Annelida; polychaeta;

    Sammanfattning : Jawed polychaete annelid worms were abundant and diverse in the early Palaeozoic seas and their jaws (scolecodonts) are common microfossils in sedimentary rocks of that age. Despite their abundance, relatively little work has been focused on these fossils. LÄS MER

  4. 24. A palaeolimnological study of the anthropogenic impact on dissolved organic carbon in South Swedish lakes

    Författare :Petra Bragée; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DOC; Brownification; Landscape Reconstruction Algorithm; Land-use changes; Lake sediments; Anthropogenic impact;

    Sammanfattning : During the past three decades, increases have been observed in dissolved organic carbon (DOC) concentrations and colour in the surface waters of lakes and rivers in parts of Europe and North America, raising concern about the effects on the quality of aquatic environments with consequences for biodiversity, resource availability and recreational use. Various hypotheses have been put forward to explain the recent increases in DOC concentration and numerous studies have been published linking them to declining anthropogenic atmospherically deposited sulphur. 5. 25. Linking lake variability, climate, and human activity in Basotu, Tanzania

    Författare :Lindsey Higgins; Lars-Ove Westerberg; Jan Risberg; Sarah Davies; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Tanzania; crater lake; climate change; land-use change; water resources; environmental variability; diatoms; paleolimnology; chronology; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : Paleoenvironmental investigations establish important baseline knowledge of the natural variability of lake systems, to better understand human impacts on the landscape, and the effects of climate change on water resources. By combining long-term environmental history with investigations into modern land use patterns and climatological events, a wider perspective can be reached that has practical applications in water governance.
