  1. 21. Health economics and its measures in rheumatoid arthritis

    Författare :Johan Karlsson; Reumatologi och molekylär skelettbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cost-utility analysis; Cost-of-illness; Quality of life; EuroQol 5-Dimensions; Antirheumatic agents; TNF inhibition; Outcome assessment; Disease activity; Disability; Health economics; Rheumatoid arthritis;

    Sammanfattning : Objectives: To study: (I) the impact on cost-utility analyses of applying different national EuroQol 5-Dimensions (EQ-5D) preference sets; (II and III) whether, in methotrexate-refractory, early rheumatoid arthritis (RA), the addition of infliximab results in superior health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and may be considered cost-effective, as compared to adding sulfasalazine and hydroxychloroquine; (IV) how costs relate to disability (measured by the health-assessment questionnaire, HAQ), disease activity (28-joint disease activity score, DAS28) and HRQoL (EQ-5D) in RA. Methods: In the observational SSATG register, one-year quality-adjusted life-year (QALY) accumulation of two interventions was compared according to the UK, US, or Danish EQ-5D preference sets. 2. 22. Rheumatoid Arthritis: Body Composition, Bone Loss, and Mortality

    Författare :Christina Book; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; fat mass; bone mass; lean mass; body composition; mortality; rheumatoid arthritis; predictors;

    Sammanfattning : Early rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients (disease duration ≤1 year, n=165) were recruited 1995-2001 and followed systematically clinically and with dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) over 2 years and compared to age- and gender-matched controls. Baseline arm and leg lean mass were decreased in RA patients in both genders and body mass index and truncal fat distribution were increased in female RA patients. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Person-centred care and preferred outcomes in early rheumatoid arthritis — the patients’ perspective

    Författare :Ellen Landgren; Reumatologi och molekylär skelettbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Focus groups; Health; Interviews; Longitudinal; Meta-synthesis; Patient perspective; Patient-preferred outcomes; Patient-centered care; Person-centered care; Qualitative research; Rheumatoid arthritis;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic, systemic, inflammatory joint disease that affects all aspects of life. Rheumatology care strives to achieve optimal health based on person-centred care (PCC). Effective treatment is available, but patients still experience unmet needs. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Disease and disability in early rheumatoid arthritis : A 3-year follow-up of women and men in the Swedish TIRA project

    Författare :Ingrid Thyberg; Thomas Skogh; Ursula Hass; Lennart Jacobsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory disease, which often leads to disability. This study is based on three years’ follow-up data generated by patients included during 27 months 1996-1998 in a Swedish multi-centre project named ‘early interventions in rheumatoid arthritis’ (TIRA). 5. 25. Patient Reported Outcomes and Orthopedic Surgery in Rheumatoid Arthritis

    Författare :Korosh Hekmat; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rheumatoid Arthritis; Orthopaedic Surgery; Patient Reported Outcomes; Outcomes; Epidemiology;

    Sammanfattning : Orthopedic surgery is used effectively in many patients with severe rheumatoid arthritis RA). The aim of modern pharmacologic treatment is to prevent joint destruction and reduce the need for orthopedic surgery. Patient reported outcomes (PROs) are important measures of the burden of RA.
