1. Prediction of Energy Use of a Swedish Secondary School Building : Building Energy Simulation, Validation, Occupancy Behaviour and Potential Energy-Efficiency Measures
Sammanfattning : Residential and public buildings account for about 40% of the annual energy use in Europe. Many buildings are in urgent need of renovation, and reductions in energy demand in the built environment are of high importance in both Europe and Sweden. Building energy simulation (BES) tools are often used to predict building performance. LÄS MER
2. Heat demand profiles of buildings' energy conservation measures and their impact on renewable and resource efficient district heating systems
Sammanfattning : Increased energy performance of the building stock of European Union is seen as an important measure towards mitigating climate change, increasing resource utilisation efficiency and energy supply security. Whether to improve the supply-side, the demand-side or both is an open issue. LÄS MER
3. Solar district heating for low energy residential areas
Sammanfattning : The integration of a solar thermal system into a district heating network can be a cost-effective solution, especially for new low-energy residential areas. Because of this, many new small solar district heating systems are built at the same time as the buildings, allowing for a more holistic approach to the design and construction. LÄS MER
4. District heating in future Europe : Modelling expansion potentials and mapping heat synergy regions
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a set of methodologies and approaches to investigate and determine the extent by which district heating can contribute to improved energy system efficiency and reduced carbon dioxide emissions in future Europe. The main motivation for suggesting large-scale implementation of district heating as a structural energy efficiency measure to obtain these objectives originates essentially in the predicament that a majority of European buildings today remain highly dependent on fossil fuels to provide energy needed for space heating and hot water preparation. 5. Solar District Heating for Low Energy Residential Areas : A Technical Analysis of Heat Distribution Concepts for a Solar Assisted District Heating System
Sammanfattning : The integration of a solar thermal system into a district heating network can be a cost-effective solution, especially for new low-energy residential areas. Because of this, many new small solar district heating systems are built at the same time as the buildings, allowing for a more holistic approach to the design and construction. LÄS MER
