  1. 1. Aeolian dunes of central Sweden

    Författare :Martin Bernhardson; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Aeolian deposits; Inland dune; LiDAR; Digital elevation model; GIS; Luminescence dating; Holocene; Sweden;

    Sammanfattning : In the Swedish inland there are aeolian deposits present, ranging from scattered single dunes to dune fields of more than 10 km2. These dune fields often pass unnoticed since they presently are covered by vegetation. However, they contain a rich palaeoenvironmental archive. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Swash Processes and Dune Erosion: Emphasis on Vessel-Generated Waves

    Författare :Li Erikson; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; marklära; kartografi; klimatologi; Civil engineering; hydraulic engineering; geomorfologi; Fysisk geografi; climatology; cartography; pedology; geomorphology; Naturvetenskap; Physical geography; Natural science; swash; erosion; vessel-generated waves; dunes; offshore technology; soil mechanics; Väg- och vattenbyggnadsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : In navigable waterways, owing to the relatively short fetches for wind wave generation, the free waves generated by moving vessels often produce the dominant wave action with respect to erosion of the shore. In response to the fairly recent introduction of high-speed ferries, combined with a planned expansion within the passenger- and car-carrying ship market, the need to model and predict coastline changes as a result of exposure to vessel-generated waves has become a topic of increased research. 3. 3. Postcolonial Nature Conservation and Collaboration in Urban Protected Areas : Everyday relations at Macassar Dunes/Wolfgat reserves, Cape Town, South Africa

    Författare :Marnie Graham; Henrik Ernstson; Thomas Elmqvist; Sandie Suchet-Pearson; Richie Howitt; Michael Adams; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; collaborative conservation; co-management; postcolonial identities; urban nature; ways of knowing nature; Southern cities; Indigenous methodology; Macassar Dunes Wolfgat reserves; Cape Town; South Africa; politics of nature conservation; naturresurshushållning; Natural Resources Management;

    Sammanfattning : Protected areas and nature conservation are profoundly shaped by Western ideas, and are embedded within powerful discourses and colonising practices. This thesis examines how colonialism and apartheid shape contemporary practices of nature conservation in Cape Town in South Africa - its institutions, geographies and peoples. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Long-term beach and dune evolution : Development and application of the CS-model

    Författare :Caroline Hallin; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Coastal processes; sediment transport; numerical modelling; Ängelholm Beach; Kennemer Dunes;

    Sammanfattning : Coastal flooding and erosion are worldwide problems that are further aggravated by rising sea levels and increasing population densities in coastal areas. In many of those areas, sandy beaches and dunes protect thehinterland from waves and extreme water levels during storms, while providing natural and recreational values. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Exploring stakeholder perceptions of an urban protected area and associated co-management arrangements: Macassar Dunes, Cape Town, South Africa

    Författare :Marnie Graham; Henrik Ernstson; Thomas Elmqvist; Maria Stenseke; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Natural Resources Management; naturresurshushållning; Human Geography; kulturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : Within our cities the importance of urban green spaces such as forests, parks, wetlands, and protected areas are increasingly recognised for their contribution to human health and wellbeing, and in the provision of ecosystem services. Meanwhile, cities contain much social, cultural, economic, and environmental diversity, and natural resource management strategies for green areas need to account for the diversity of perspectives and conflict spaces that such urban diversity can encapsulate.
