  1. 11. Hägnadernas roll för jordbruket och byalaget 1640-1900

    Författare :Örjan Kardell; Janken Myrdal; Carl-Johan Gadd; Iréne Flygare; SLU Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :patures; fencing; traditional farming; construction materials; history; sweden; hankgärdesgård; gropavall; stenmur; stör; hank; vidja; gärdsel; betesorganisation; skogsbrist; samhävd; bytvång; historia; History;

    Sammanfattning : Avhandlingen har en tvärvetenskaplig inriktning och avser att belysa hankgärdesgårdens betydelse från 1640 – 1900 på flera plan: virkesbehov; arbetsbehov; funktion inom byalaget. Avhandlingens grundläggande hypotes är att hägnaderna ökade över tiden. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Staging the world. Rome and the other in the triumphal procession

    Författare :Ida Östenberg; Antikens kultur och samhällsliv; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; world mastery; kings; barbarians; conquest; aerarium; wealth; triumphator; representations; captives; spoils; enargeia; spectators; display; role-playing; processional sequence; self-definition; the other; ritual; performance; Rome; triumphal procession; oikumene.; Ancient history; Antikens och forntidens historia;

    Sammanfattning : The triumphal procession staged Roman conquest and supremacy, featuring the defeated ‘other’ as opposed to the victorious ‘self’ in a rather fixed role-playing. This thesis takes as its theoretical premise that these ritually recurrent and visually emphatic processions both conveyed and constructed Roman views of the self and the other, and that they can be studied as formative expressions of such conceptions. 3. 13. The cosmic origin of fluorine and sulphur: Infrared spectroscopic studies of red giants

    Författare :Henrik Jönsson; Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemical evolution; near-infrared and mid-infrared spectroscopy; stellar abundances;

    Sammanfattning : Disregarding the small primordial traces of the lightest elements, all metals have been formed in stellar processes, which means that the relative amount of metals in the Universe increases for every stellar generation. This build-up of elements is called chemical evolution and might be used both to constrain stellar models as well as understanding the formation and evolution of stellar populations. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Evolution of Vertebrate Eyes: a study on lens suspension and optical proterties

    Författare :Ola Gustafsson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; evolution; eye; fish; crystalline lens; lens suspension; multifocal optical systems; Agnatha; Actinopterygii; Chondrichthyes; Vertebrate; Sarcopterygii;

    Sammanfattning : Many fishes have well-developed visual systems with color vision capabilities. The crystalline lens is the major refractive element in a fish eye since the cornea is optically inactive underwater. A typical fish eye has a large pupil and a lens of short focal length, features that increase light gathering ability. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Diversity of avian haemosporidian parasites : Host specificity, genetic structure and infection patterns

    Författare :Xi Huang; MEMEG; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Haemoproteus; Sequence capture; host specificity; quantitative PCR; phylogeny;

    Sammanfattning : Parasites live on or inside their hosts and usually cause fitness loss, sometimes even lead to outbreaks of emerging infectious disease. Understanding how a parasite can infect its hosts (i.e., host specificity of the parasite) is important to both basic studies on disease evolution and the whole ecosystem health. LÄS MER
