21. Activities as resources when living with advanced cancer
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to increase knowledge about how people with advanced cancer experience their engagement in activities and how such activities may be useful when living with life-threatening illness. This is explored with regard to creative activities in palliative occupational therapy and to self-chosen activities in everyday life. LÄS MER
22. Retrieval of Ocean Surface Currents and Winds Using Satellite SAR backscatter and Doppler frequency shift
Sammanfattning : Ocean surface winds and currents play an important role for weather, climate, marine life, ship navigation, oil spill drift and search and rescue. In-situ observations of the ocean are sparse and costly. Satellites provide a useful complement to these observations. LÄS MER
23. Hydrological Modeling for Climate Change Impact Assessment : Transferring Large-Scale Information from Global Climate Models to the Catchment Scale
Sammanfattning : A changing climate can severely perturb regional hydrology and thereby affect human societies and life in general. To assess and simulate such potential hydrological climate change impacts, hydrological models require reliable meteorological variables for current and future climate conditions. LÄS MER
24. Retrieval of ocean surface winds and currents using satellite synthetic aperture radar and infrared radiometry
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the development, analysis and evaluation of methods for the retrieval of ocean surface winds with synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and surface currents with infrared (IR) radiometer sensors. The SAR wind speed retrievals are based on geophysical model functions using wind directions obtained with two approaches. LÄS MER
25. Atlantic Water in the Nordic Seas : A satellite altimetry perspective on ocean circulation
Sammanfattning : The Atlantic Water in the Nordic Seas contributes to the mild climate of Northern Europe and is the main oceanic source of heat for the Arctic. The northward bound transport of the warm and saline Atlantic Water is mediated by a topographically constrained cyclonic boundary current along the Norwegian continental slope. LÄS MER
