  1. 36. Analysis and Modelling of Desalination Brines

    Författare :Raed Bashitialshaaer; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Modelling.; Field data analysis; Negatively buoyant jet; Experiment; Brine discharge; Desalination; Water supply;

    Sammanfattning : Seawater desalination constitutes an important water supply to the population bordering the Arabian Gulf, the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea. The three regions represent about 11.8% of the world land area and the countrieshosted approximately 9% of the world population in 1950 and 2008 and are also projected to do so in 2050. LÄS MER

    Författare :Johan Bäckman; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Railway safety; Risk analysis; Statistical analysis; CBA; Economics; Willingness To Pay; Risk criteria;

    Sammanfattning : Safety analysis is a process involving several techniques.The purpose of this thesis is to test and develop methodssuitable for the safety analysis of railway risks and railwaysafety measures. Safety analysis is a process comprisingproblem identification, risk estimation, valuation of safetyand economic analysis. LÄS MER

  3. 38. Development of a Risk-Based Decision Model for Prioritizing Microbial Risk Mitigation Measures in Drinking Water Systems

    Författare :Viktor Bergion; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantitative microbial risk assessment; microbial risks; pathogens; water quality modelling; drinking water system; cost-benefit analysis; decision support;

    Sammanfattning : Risk management of drinking water systems is crucial since our society relies on these systems to be robust and sustainable to supply safe drinking water now and to future generations. Pathogens may spread in drinking water systems and cause waterborne outbreaks resulting in human suffering and large costs to the society. LÄS MER

  4. 39. Value of Information Analysis for Site Investigations in Remediation Projects

    Författare :Pär-Erik Back; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; uncertainty; value of information; soil; decision analysis; sampling; remediation; contaminated land; site investigation;

    Sammanfattning : Site investigations of contaminated land are associated with high costs. From a societal point of view, just enough economic resources should be spent to allow societys limited resources to be allocated optimally to sustainable development. LÄS MER

  5. 40. Economic evaluation, value of life, stated preference methodology and determinants of risks

    Författare :Björn Sund; Lars Hultkrantz; Ulf Persson; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Cost-benefit analysis; value of a statistical life; contingent valuation; cardiac arrest; defibrillation; calibration; sensitivity to scope; risk communication; response times; incident experience; risk perception.; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; Economics; Nationalekonomi; Economics; Nationalekonomi;

    Sammanfattning : The first paper examines the value of a statistical life (VSL) for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) victims. We found VSL values to be higher for OHCA victims than for people who die in road traffic accidents and a lower-bound estimate of VSL for OHCA would be in the range of 20 to 30 million Swedish crowns (SEK).
