1. Diagnostics of Oil-Impregnated Paper Insulation Systems by Utilizing Lightning and Switching Transients
Sammanfattning : Development of the power gridtowards a more reliable and smarter system requires frequent on-line monitoring of the power components. Power transformers and their bushings are particularly important components in a power transmission system and their insulation degradation may lead to catastrophic failures. LÄS MER
2. The Effect of HV Impulses on Partial Discharge Activity and on the Dielectric Response in Oil-impregnated Paper Insulation
Sammanfattning : This work investigates how HV impulses affect the behavior of partial discharge (PD) activity and the low voltage dielectric response of oil-impregnated paper insulation. It also investigates how the change in the PD activity is related to the degradation level of oil-impregnated paper insulation. LÄS MER
3. Mechanisms of Electrical Ageing of Oilimpregnated Paper due to Partial Discharges
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, partial discharge (PD) phenomenon in oil-impregnated paper (OIP) is investigated under accelerated electrical stress. The thesis is mainly focused on the characteristic of PD activity and the influence it has on the insulation properties of OIP. LÄS MER
4. Effect of HV Impulses on Partial Discharge Activity in Oil-Impregnated Paper Insulation
Sammanfattning : High voltage (HV) transients in electrical power systems are mainly caused by lightning strikes and switching operations. The high voltage transient from its point of origin can propagate in either direction in the electrical power transmission line, and if its magnitude would be below the Basic Insulation Level (BIL) of the equipment for impulse voltage, it can reach the terminals of the equipment without being dissipated by surge arresters. 5. Partial Discharge Signatures of Defects in Insulation Systems Consisting of Oil and Oil-impregnated Paper
Sammanfattning : Partial discharge measurement is a common method for monitoring and diagnostics of power transformers, and can detect insulation malfunctions before they lead to failure. Different parameters extracted from the measured PD activity can be correlated to the PD source, and as a result it is possible to identify the PD source by analyzing the PD activity. LÄS MER
