  1. 1. Modelling late toxicity in hypofractionated radiation therapy

    Författare :Niclas Pettersson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hypofractionation; normal tissue complication probability; modelling; linear-quadratic model; fractionation sensitivity; late toxicity; radiation-induced rib fracture; genitourinary toxicity; stereotactic body radiation therapy; high-dose-rate brachytherapy; multimodality radiation therapy; patient-reported outcomes; prostate cancer; nsclc;

    Sammanfattning : In hypofractionated radiation therapy (RT), the treatment is delivered by few fractions with high doses per fraction. This is in contrast to conventionally fractionated RT where the total dose is delivered in many fractions with low doses per fraction. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Radiation Oncology Data and Modelling Side Effects after Radiation Therapy

    Författare :Caroline Olsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dose and side effect data; dose-volume response; fractionation effect; LQ model; sequential two-phase radiotherapy; head and neck cancer; parotid gland; xerostomia; pelvic radiotherapy; gynecological cancer; pubic bone; pain; data integration; xerostomia;

    Sammanfattning : Although modern radiation therapy techniques have the ability to conform the dose distribution of ionizing radiation tightly around the volume to be treated, unwanted irradiation to surrounding organs remains a problem. The probability of a side effect arising in the normal tissue of a patient after radiation therapy can be modelled by sigmoid mathematical functions known as normal tissue complication probability (NTCP) models. 3. 3. Radiation-induced vascular inflammation : translational studies

    Författare :Tinna Christersdottir Björklund; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Radiotherapy has been shown to increase the risk for localized cardiovascular disease in a growing population of cancer survivors. However, irradiation, as a risk factor for vascular complications in free flap surgery, has been debated. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Towards better quality of life after radiation therapy by improved response modeling

    Författare :Eleftheria Alevronta; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: To improve the quality of life of radiotherapy cancer survivors we need to improve our knowledge of the dose, volume and time-response relations of radiotherapy induced late effects. Aims: The aim of the thesis was to investigate predictors for normal-tissue complications of head and neck, and gynecological radiotherapy using response modeling. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis. The Role of Low Dose Computed Tomography

    Författare :Kasim Abul-Kasim; Malmö Diagnostisk radiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; low-dose spine CT; effective dose; screw misplacement; adolescent idiopathic scoliosis; outcome.; titanium screws; image quality; neurovascular complication; phantom;

    Sammanfattning : Continuous implementation of new operative methods for correction and stabilization of spinal deformities in young patients with AIS demands a detailed morphological analysis of the vertebral column. CT spine according to protocols available in daily clinical practice means high radiation dose to these young individuals. LÄS MER
