21. Composing over time, temporal patterns : in Textile Design
Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis is a first attempt investigating a new field, exploring the visual effects of movement using light as a continuous time-based medium. Composing over time, temporal patterns - in Textile Design is a practice based research project that investigates the following research question: What does it mean, if time and change – constant movement – becomes part of the textile design expression? The research question has been investigated in a number of experiments that explore the visual effects of movement using light integrated into textile structures as a medium. LÄS MER
22. Investigating the impacts of Late Pleistocene climate change on Arctic mammals using palaeogenomics
Sammanfattning : The climatic fluctuations of the Late Pleistocene likely had a large impact on the evolutionary history of Arctic species. Palaeogenomics is a useful tool to shed light on how past populations responded to these climatic shifts and the associated ice sheet dynamics and sea level change. LÄS MER
23. Exercising the brain in pain : using fMRI to investigate intrinsic connectivity, cognition and pain regulation in fibromyalgia and how this is affected by physical exercise
Sammanfattning : The aims of the studies of this thesis were to use functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to investigate cerebral activation patterns in fibromyalgia (FM) patients and healthy controls (HC) at rest, when performing the stroop colour word test (SCWT) and during pressure pain provocation. Distraction induced analgesia (DIA), performance on the SCWT and pressure pain sensitivity was investigated on the behavioural and psychophysical level. LÄS MER
24. Innovation Resistance : Moving Beyond Dominant Framings
Sammanfattning : Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) research has mainly had an outlook that frames innovation in a pro-innovation, pro-firm, manner. Connected to this perception of innovation is a view of human and non-human resistance as a temporary unwanted response that will eventually be overcome. LÄS MER
25. Rainfall variability, soils and land use changes in the Ethiopian highlands
Sammanfattning : Most farmers in the Ethiopian highlands are dependent on rain-fed agriculture. The indigenous cereal tef is the most important crop for the farmers in the highlands. The central highland is an environmentally fragile area and a marginal area of Ethiopia with a recurring problem for the farmers to sustain an adequate agricultural production. LÄS MER
