  1. 11. Faecal Microbiota Transfer in Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Collagenous Colitis : Clinical outcomes and host-microbe interactions

    Författare :Savanne Holster; Robert Jan Brummer; Julia König; Andreas Munk Petersen; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Faecal microbiota transfer; irritable bowel syndrome; collagenous colitis; gut microbiota; visceral sensitivity; host-microbe interactions; gene expression; metabolites;

    Sammanfattning : Faecal microbiota transfer (FMT) aims at restoring a disturbed gut microbiotaby introducing faecal material from a healthy donor into a patient’s intestine. This approach is known as a safe and effective treatment in patients with recurrent Clostridioides difficile infection. LÄS MER

  2. 12. On the role of bile acids in chronic diarrhoea

    Författare :Kjell-Arne Ung; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Diarrhoea; bile acid malabsorption; steatorrhoea; collagenous colitis; lymphocytic colitis; cholestyramine; long-term; histopathology; symptoms; ileal resection;

    Sammanfattning : Bile acids which promote lipid absorption are actively reabsorbed in the distal ileum. Bile acid malabsorption (BAM) and microscopic colitis (lymphocytic and collagenous) are both associated with chronic watery diarrhoea. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Epidemiological aspects of microscopic colitis

    Författare :Anna Wickbom; Curt Tysk; Johan Bohr; Nils Nyhlin; Bodil Ohlsson; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; microscopic colitis; epidemiology; risk factors; comorbidity; health-related quality of life;

    Sammanfattning : Microscopic colitis (MC) constitutes the main entities collagenous colitis (CC) and lymphocytic colitis (LC), diseases that are relatively recently described (in 1976 and 1989, respectively).The aims of this thesis were to study the epidemiology of MC, to describe how these diseases affect patients in terms of symptom burden and health-related quality of life (HRQoL), to study potential risk factors such as familial factors, childhood circumstances, educational level, marital status, smoking and comorbidity, and to describe a cohort of patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) or Crohn’s disease (CD) and subsequent MC, and vice versa. 4. 14. Chronic inflammatory bowel diseases : studies of microbiota and its influence

    Författare :Adam Carstens; Jonas Halfvarson; Lars Engstrand; Johannes Espolin Roksund Hov; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Inflammatory bowel disease; microscopic colitis; Crohn’s disease; ulcerative colitis; microbiota; microbiome; biological treatment;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Inflammatory bowel diseases are becoming increasingly common. The underlying mechanisms are not entirely known but the gut microbiota seem to be involved in the pathogenesis. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Bile Acid Induced Diarrhoea Pathophysiological and Clinical Aspects

    Författare :Antal Bajor; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Diarrhoea; bile acid transport; bile acid synthesis; 75SeHCAT reproducibility; C4; budesonide; collagenous colitis; in vitro; malabsorption; ASBT; intestinal secretion; potential difference; manometry;

    Sammanfattning : A common cause for referral to gastroenterologists is chronic watery diarrhoea. Approximately 40% of these patients have idiopathic bile acid malabsorption (BAM) ? a condition with unknown aetiology. The 75SeHCAT test, which correlates inversely with faecal excretion and hepatic synthesis of bile acids, is used to diagnose BAM. LÄS MER
