  1. 1. Bile Acid Induced Diarrhoea Pathophysiological and Clinical Aspects

    Författare :Antal Bajor; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Diarrhoea; bile acid transport; bile acid synthesis; 75SeHCAT reproducibility; C4; budesonide; collagenous colitis; in vitro; malabsorption; ASBT; intestinal secretion; potential difference; manometry;

    Sammanfattning : A common cause for referral to gastroenterologists is chronic watery diarrhoea. Approximately 40% of these patients have idiopathic bile acid malabsorption (BAM) ? a condition with unknown aetiology. The 75SeHCAT test, which correlates inversely with faecal excretion and hepatic synthesis of bile acids, is used to diagnose BAM. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Neural control of colonic epithelial transport, motility and permeability in vivo. An experimental study in anaesthetized rats

    Författare :Ying Sun; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; enteric nervous system; colonic motility; transmural potential difference; net; fluid transport; permeability; bile acid; nitric oxide; inflammatory bowel disease;

    Sammanfattning : Colonic dysfunction may result in diarrhoea, abdominal pain or constipation, andinflammatory bowel disease, bile acid malabsorption and particularly irritable bowelsyndrome are very common disorders. The role of the enteric nervous system (ENS) inthese diseases is largely unknown. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Studies on the hormonal regulation of bile acid synthesis

    Författare :Thomas Lundåsen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The maintenance of a normal turnover of cholesterol is of vital importance, and disturbances of cholesterol metabolism may result in several important disease conditions. The major route for the elimination of cholesterol from the body is by hepatic secretion of cholesterol and bile acids (BAs) into the bile for subsequent fecal excretion. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Molecular mechanisms of AhR mediated endocrine disruption of estrogen and retinoic acid signalling pathways

    Författare :David Wahlström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Dioxins and similar compounds are toxic substances ubiquitously present in the environment. The most potent dioxin, 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD), is considered to be one of the most toxic compounds known to man. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Studies on the oxysterol receptor LXRβ : linking cholesterol metabolism to water transport and cell proliferation

    Författare :Chiara Gabbi; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Liver X Receptor β (LXRβ) is a nuclear receptor, belonging to the superfamily of ligand-activated transcription factors. With its α isoform (LXRα), LXRβ shares more than 78% homology in its amino acid sequence, a common profile of oxysterol ligands and the heterodimerization partner, Retinoid X Receptor. LÄS MER
