  1. 1. Inflammatory bowel disease in twins : studies of genetics and environmental factors

    Författare :Jonas Halfvarson; Salvador Peña; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : The aetiology of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is unknown but considered to be caused by interplay of genetic and environmental factors.The aims of this thesis were to study the influence of genetics and environmental factors in aetiology, disease phenotype and levels of Anti-Saccharomyces cerevisiae antibodies (ASCA), as well as to assess whether CARD15/NOD2 polymorphisms explain the influence of genetics in these aspects. 2. 2. Serological and faecal biomarkers in inflammatory bowel disease

    Författare :Karin Amcoff; Jonas Halfvarson; Marie Carlsson; Hans Törnblom; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Crohn s disease; ulcerative colitis; inflammatory bowel disease; faecal calprotectin; antibodies; eosinophils; ECP; EDN;

    Sammanfattning : The inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, are relapsing and remitting disorders characterised by chronic inflammation at various sites in the gastrointestinal tract, resulting in diarrhoea and abdominal pain. Neither the aetiology nor the pathophysiology is yet fully understood, and there is currently no cure. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Chronic inflammatory bowel diseases : studies of microbiota and its influence

    Författare :Adam Carstens; Jonas Halfvarson; Lars Engstrand; Johannes Espolin Roksund Hov; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Inflammatory bowel disease; microscopic colitis; Crohn’s disease; ulcerative colitis; microbiota; microbiome; biological treatment;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Inflammatory bowel diseases are becoming increasingly common. The underlying mechanisms are not entirely known but the gut microbiota seem to be involved in the pathogenesis. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: The two main forms of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. These are chronic inflammatory disorders, mainly affecting the gastrointestinal tract. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Chrohn's disease : aspects of epidemiology, clinical course, and faecal calprotectin

    Författare :Yaroslava Zhulina; Jonas Halfvarson; Curt Tysk; Hans Strid; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Crohn’s disease; epidemiology; faecal calprotectin; Medicine; Medicin;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to study epidemiological and clinical changes in the natural history of Crohn’s disease, its phenotype, the need for surgery and pharmacological therapy over time, as well as the role of faecal calprotectin as a biomarker of pathophysiology and disease course.An increased incidence and prevalence of Crohn’s disease was seen in the period 1963-2010.
