  1. 1. Life Cycle Costing : Supporting companies towards a circular economy

    Författare :Marianna Lena Kambanou; Mattias Lindahl; Tomohiko Sakao; Giuditta Pezzotta; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; life cycle costing; total cost of ownership; circular strategies; products as a service; through life costing; life cycle management; circular economy;

    Sammanfattning : Increased consumption has resulted in the depletion of non-renewable resources and an explosion in waste. A circular economy proposes to sustain economic growth but decouple it from resource consumption by keeping products and materials in the economy. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Circular design in practice: Towards a co-created circular economy through design

    Författare :Giliam Dokter; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; collaboration; circular economy; design for sustainability; co-design; design practice; architecture; co-creation; circular business models; circular design; circularity; industrial design;

    Sammanfattning : In the efforts to stimulate sustainable development, the circular economy represents the most recent attempt to reduce the pressure on the environment by attaining harmony between the economy, environment and society. In theory, this is accomplished by establishing ‘closed-loop’ flows of resources in a way that enables businesses and society to reap benefits from maintaining products, components and materials at their highest utility and value, while simultaneously reducing the generation of waste. 3. 3. Circular Business Models that Extend Product Value : Going Beyond Recycling to Create New Circular Business Opportunities

    Författare :Katherine Whalen; Internationella miljöinstitutet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; circular business model; product life extension; obsolescence; circular economy; business model; reuse; repair; refurbishment; sustainability strategies; sustainability education;

    Sammanfattning : Over the past ten years, significant industry, policy, and scientific attention has been given to the ‘circular economy’, which aims to create a more sustainable society by decoupling economic growth from resource consumption. Firms are expected to play a significant role in the shift to a circular economy model by implementing circular business models that encourage prolonged use of products, components, and materials. 4. 4. Circular design through co-creation: Exploring perspectives and future directions for design in a circular economy

    Författare :Giliam Dokter; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Circular Economy; Co-creation; Design practice; Prototyping; Design for Sustainability; Circular Design;

    Sammanfattning : In the efforts to stimulate sustainable development, the circular economy aims to establish ‘closed-loop’ flows of resources in a way that enables businesses and society to reap benefits from maintaining products, components and materials at their highest utility and value, while simultaneously reducing the generation of waste. Designing for a circular economy will require designers to, more than ever, anticipate how artifacts function and change over time and conceptualise the entire lifecycle (including the design, production, use and end-of-life phase) in a coherent and holistic way. 5. 5. Adaptive Design for Circular Business Models in the Automotive Manufacturing Industry

    Författare :Thomas Nyström; RISE; []
    Nyckelord :Circular Business Models; Product Service System; Business and Design Logic; Circular Economy; Design for Circular Business Models;

    Sammanfattning : The vision of a circular economy (CE) promises both profitability and eco-sustainability to industries, and can, from a material and energy resource flow perspective, be operationalized by combining three business and design strategies: closing loops; narrowing and slowing down resource flows by material recycling, improving resource efficiency; and by extending product life by reuse, upgrades and remanufacturing. These three strategies are straightforward ways for industries to radically reduce their use of virgin resources. LÄS MER
