  1. 1. Neuron-glial Interaction in the Developing Peripheral Nervous System

    Författare :Mikael Corell; Åsa Fex Svenningsen; Klas Kullander; Helgi Schöith; Heape Anthony; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Schwann cell; nonmyelinating Schwann cell; myelinating Schwann cell; development; proliferation; differentiation; myelin; neural stem cell; central nervous system; peripheral nervous system; enteric nervous system; N-cadherin; GABA; GAD; GABA B receptor; baclofen; CGP55485; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The nervous system, including the brain, is the most sophisticated organ in the mammalian body. In such a complex network, neuron-glial interaction is essential and controls most developmental processes, such as stem cell fate determination, migration, differentiation, synapse formation, ensheathment and myelination. 2. 2. Aspects of the human enteric nervous system : A study of the normal development and of Hirschsprung's disease

    Författare :Tomas Wester; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; enteric nervous system; Hirschsprung s disease; intestinal neuronal dysplasia; neuron density; nitric oxide; bcl-2; interstitial cells of Cajal; c-kit; human; fetal; development; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Surgery; kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Thirty patients with Hirschsprung's disease (HD) who underwent Rehbein's anterior resection, using a circular stapler to perform the anastomosis, were evaluated retrospectively. The postoperative complication rate and long-term functional outcome were similar to those reported by other investigators using the same and other techniques. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Infections in the central nervous system with focus on meningococcal disease : clinical and epidemiological aspects

    Författare :Olof Säll; Paula Mölling; Sara Thulin Hedberg; Martin Sundqvist; Magnus Rasmussen; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; CNS infection; meningitis; encephalitis; Neisseria meningitidis; serogroup Y; serogroup W; meningococcal disease; carriage; PCR;

    Sammanfattning : Infections in the central nervous system (CNS) include meningitis and encephalitis and are associated with high mortality and morbidity. A large number of different pathogens can cause these infections, including Neisseria meningitidis. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Alphaherpesvirus infections of the central nervous system – Biomarkers, diagnostics and antiviral therapy

    Författare :Johan Lindström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; herpesviruses; central nervous system; facial paralysis; cerebrospinal fluid; biomarkers; acyclovir; neurotoxicity; syndromic testing;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract Herpesviruses predate the evolution of humans and are globally ubiquitous. Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1), herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2), and varicella-zoster virus (VZV) establish latency in neuronal tissue and may cause infections in the central nervous system (CNS). Författare :Paula Gyllemark; Anna Jonsson Henningsson; Pia Forsberg; Jan Ernerudh; Johanna Sjöwall; Marie Studahl; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Lyme neuroborreliosis (LNB) is the dominating form of disseminated infection by the tick-borne bacteria Borrelia (B.) burgdorferi in Sweden as well as in Europe. LÄS MER
