  1. 1. Someone has to tell them : exploring hereditary cancer risk disclosure in Sweden

    Författare :Carolina Hawranek; Anna Rosén; Senada Hajdarevic; Beatrice S. Melin; Barbro Numan Hellquist; Maria Katapodi; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cancer; hereditary cancer; prevention; family disclosure; family communication; cancer worry; risk information; at-risk relatives; cascade testing; genetic counselling; public opinion; Oncology; onkologi; Genetics; genetik;

    Sammanfattning : Summary in EnglishBackground: An awareness of hereditary susceptibility for breast, ovarian and colorectal cancer in high-risk families enables targeted cancer prevention. A discovered hereditary risk in one family member (proband) may thus be important for several members of that family. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Advancements in stratified flows through simulation, experiment and open research software development

    Författare :Ashwin Vishnu Mohanan; Erik Lindborg; Pierre Augier; James J. Riley; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; geophysical flows; shallow water wave turbulence; energy cascade; stratified turbulence; waves and vortices; open source software; geofysikaliska strömningar; vågturbulens i grunt vatten; energi- kaskad; stratifierad turbulens; vågor och virvlar; öppen mjukvara; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : Two studies of two-dimensional models of flows influenced by stratification and stratification/rotation are carried out in order to investigate whether a two-dimensional model can reproduce a downscale energy cascade with an associated k − 5/3 wavenumber spectrum. Firstly, a series of highly resolved numerical simulations of the classical shallow water model is carried out. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Experimental Investigation of Three-Dimensional Mechanisms in Low-Pressure Turbine Flutter

    Författare :Damian Vogt; Torsten Fransson; Robert Kielb; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Life sciences and physical sciences; turbomachinery; flutter; aeroelastic instability; aeroelastic testing; CFD; linearized unsteady numerical method; 3D aerodynamic effects; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : The continuous trend in gas turbine design towards lighter, more powerful and more reliable engines on one side and use of alternative fuels on the other side renders flutter problems as one of the paramount challenges in engine design. Flutter denotes a self-excited and self-sustained aeroelastic instability phenomenon that can lead to material fatigue and eventually damage of structure in a short period of time unless properly damped. 4. 4. Design, Optimization and Evaluation of a Transonic Aeroelastic Rig

    Författare :Simeng Tian; Andrew R. Martin; Mauricio Gutierrez Salas; Dieter Peitsch; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Transonic compressor; Aeroelastic rig; Design; CFD; Unsteady flow; Energiteknik; Energy Technology;

    Sammanfattning : The compressor is one of the most essential components of a modern turbomachinery engine. This component is exposed to vibrations that without proper design can damage structural integrity and lead to failure. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Control of Voltage Source Converters for Voltage Dip Mitigation in Shunt and Series Configurations

    Författare :Massimo Bongiorno; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Power Quality; Current Controller; Voltage Source Converter VSC .; Power Electronics; Voltage Dip Sag ;

    Sammanfattning : Custom Power is the application of power electronics to improve the quality of power distribution for sensitive industrial plants. Industries reporting production stops due to voltage disturbances, like short interruptions and voltage dips, include paper mills, semiconductors facilities and other industries with fully automated production.
