16. Kinetics of the catalytic hydrogenation of oxygen and its application to a process for deoxygenation of refinery gases
Sammanfattning : A literature survey shows the detrimental effect of oxygen in refinery gases for various processes, and the need for a deoxygenation process. The present work has been confined to gases containing hydrogen sulfide, as is the case with shale gas. LÄS MER
17. Development of the Lund AMS facility for the detection of Al-26 -- with applications in plant ecology
Sammanfattning : Accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) is a highly sensitive technique to count atoms. The method has a high efficiency, which makes it possible to measure small samples in a relatively short time, usually less than an hour. During the work for this thesis, methods have been developed to detect Al-26 at the Lund AMS facility. LÄS MER
18. On Parameter Estimation Employing Sinewave Fit andPhase Noise Compensation in OFDM Systems
Sammanfattning : In today’s modern society, we are surrounded by a multitude of digital devices. The number of available digital devices is set to grow even more. As the trendcontinues, product life-cycle is a major issue in mass production of these devices. LÄS MER
19. Drug Delivery to the Brain by Liposomes : Understanding Factors Governing Delivery Outcomes In Vivo
Sammanfattning : The blood-brain barrier (BBB) is the primary obstacle for efficient drug delivery to the central nervous system (CNS). One promising strategy to enhance brain delivery is to utilize nanocarriers (NC), e.g., liposomes, encapsulating CNS drugs. LÄS MER
20. Towards single Ce ion detection in a bulk crystal for the development of a single-ion qubit readout scheme
Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis was concerned with investigating the relevant spectroscopic properties of Ce ions randomly doped in an Y2SiO5 crystal at low temperatures (around 4 K), in order to develop a technique and an experimental set-up to detect the fluorescence photons emitted by a single Ce ion. The aim of the work was to determine whether a single Ce ion (referred to as the readout ion) can be used as a local probe to sense the quantum state of a neighbouring single-ion qubit via a state-selective interaction between the readout and qubit ion.
