36. Low-Temperature Oxidation of CO and Volatile Organic Compounds over Supported Platinum Catalysts
Sammanfattning : The catalytic oxidation of carbon monoxide (CO) and volatile organic compounds (VOC) is important for the reduction of harmful emissions from both vehicles and from stationary sources. Both these applications suffer from poor catalytic efficiency at lower temperatures. LÄS MER
37. Modification of flavonoid content and photosynthesis by ultraviolet-B radiation. Atrazine-tolerant and -sensitive ultivars of Brassica napus
Sammanfattning : Levels of ultraviolet-B (UV-B, 280-320 nm) radiation reaching the Earth´s surface increase due to stratospheric ozone depletion. In this thesis the effect of enhanced UV-B radiation was studied on the atrazine-tolerant mutant Stallion, susceptible to photoinhibition, and the atrazine-sensitive cultivar Paroll of Brassica napus (oilseed rape). 38. Nutrient balance and salinity stress in arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi
Sammanfattning : Earth’s primary production depends to a considerable extent on the mycorrhizal symbiosis, since mycorrhizal fungi supply their host plant with important mineral nutrients. I examined the influence of different nutrient regimes on the fungal partner in the arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis. LÄS MER
39. DYNAMIC MODELLING OF BIOGEOCHEMICAL PROCESSES IN FOREST ECOSYSTEMS
Sammanfattning : Forests in Sweden are undergoing rapid and considerable changes regarding both management methods and environmental conditions. To understand the effects of these changes and to be able to predict impending changes in forest ecosystems, a holistic understanding of the processes governing the ecosystem is needed. LÄS MER
40. Infrared spectroscopy as a tool to reconstruct past lake-ecosystem changes : Method development and application in lake-sediment studies
Sammanfattning : Natural archives such as lake sediments allow us to assess contemporary ecosystem responses to climate and environmental changes in a long-term context beyond the few decades to at most few centuries covered by monitoring or historical data. To achieve a comprehensive view of the changes preserved in sediment records, multi-proxy studies – ideally in high resolution – are necessary. LÄS MER
