   Sammanfattning : The aim of this study is to explore sex buyers’ perceptions and experiences of purchasing sex, and to study how the purchase of sex is constructed as a social problem in Swedish social work practice. The empirical material consists of interviews with 30 men with experiences of purchasing sex and with ten social workers conducting counselling or outreach work with men who purchase sex. LÄS MER

   Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the social construction of a purchase of a sexual service within the implementation of prostitution policy in Sweden and seeks to contribute to the current knowledge about how a purchase of a sexual service is regulated based on how the law and social work are locally implemented. The thesis consists of four papers based on two empirical studies, including legal documents concerning the enforcement of the Swedish Sex Purchase Act (Chapter 6 Section 11 of the Criminal Code), and interviews with professionals within social services providing counselling to individuals with the experience of purchasing sexual services.    Sammanfattning : Paper 1: Do laws affect attitudes? An assessment of the Norwegian prostitution law using longitudinal data The question of whether laws affect attitudes has inspired scholars across many disciplines, but empirical knowledge is sparse. Using longitudinal survey data from Norway and Sweden, collected before and after the implementation of a Norwegian law criminalizing the purchase of sexual services, we assess the short-run effects on attitudes using a difference-indifferences approach.
