11. Influence of lifestyle behaviours on bone mineral density among young healthy women: A two-year study. A Tentative Salutary Model
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this prospective observational study with a salutogenic approach was to investigate bone mineral density (BMD) and BMD changes in the heel bone, in a group of healthy women, in relation to physiological factors and lifestyle behaviours over a two-year period as well as investigating the women’s view of their lifestyle behaviours. Data were collected in 1999 (T1) and 2001 (T2). LÄS MER
12. Muscles, Estrogen, and Bone
Sammanfattning : Sweden has one of the highest incidences of osteoporotic fractures in the world. A more sedentary lifestyle is one of several proposed reasons for the increase in osteoporosis seen in the developed countries. LÄS MER
13. Bone Metabolism in Men
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, the importance of the growth hormone (GH)/insulin-like growth factor (IGF) system and sex steroids for male bone metabolism has been investigated, and the effects of continuous low dose GH replacement in GH deficient (GHD) adults. In a population-based sample of men, positive correlations were found between bone mineral density (BMD) and IGF-I, IGF-II, IGF binding protein (IGFBP)-3 and the testosterone/sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) ratio. 14. Bone in coeliac disease
Sammanfattning : Patients with untreated and treated coeliac disease were examined regarding bone mineral density (BMD) and biochemical factors of importance for bone metabolism. The occurrence of disturbances and their correction during treatment with a gluten-free diet were studied. LÄS MER
15. Physical activity, bone density, and fragility fractures in women
Sammanfattning : Scandinavia has among the highest incidence of fragility fractures in the world. The reasons for this are unknown, but might involve differences in genetic and/or environmental factors, such as sunlight exposure and levels of physical activity. LÄS MER
