  1. 1. Statistical models of TF/DNA interaction

    Författare :Aymeric Fouquier d'Herouel; Erik Aurell; Otto Berg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; gene expression; regulation; transcription factor; binding motif; matrix representations; gibbs sampling; binding affinity; non-specific binding; Biological physics; Biologisk fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Gene expression is regulated in response to metabolic necessities and environmental changes throughout the life of a cell. A major part of this regulation is governed at the level of transcription, deciding whether messengers to specific genes are produced or not. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Nucleotide-binding Proteins in the Plant Thylakoid Membrane

    Författare :Sophie Heurtel Thuswaldner; Cornelia Spetea Wiklund; Bengt Persson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; plant; Arabidopsis; photosynthesis; thylakoid membrane; nucleotide-binding; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Life on Earth is dependent on the oxygen produced through photosynthesis. The thylakoid membrane is the site for the light-driven reactions of photosynthesis, which oxidize water and supply energy in the form of ATP, mainly for carbon fixation. The utilization of ATP in the lumenal space of the thylakoid has not been considered in the past. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Diving into short linear motifs : Large-scale identification of endogenous and host-pathogen protein-protein interactions and further characterized by deep mutational scanning

    Författare :Caroline Benz; Ylva Ivarsson; Birthe B. Kragelund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; protein-protein interactions; short linear motif; endogenous interactions; host-pathogen; viral hijacking; deep mutational scanning; Biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Short linear motifs (SLiMs) are protein-protein interaction sites that play an essential role in distinct cellular processes. Those interactions are challenging to capture by common high-throughput methods. LÄS MER

  4. 4. On diverse biophysical aspects of genetics : from the action of regulators to the characterization of transcripts

    Författare :Aymeric Fouquier D´Hérouel; Erik Aurell; Felix Ritort; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; transcription regulation; regulatory motifs; binding affinity; genetic interactions; secondary structure; sequence repeats; transcript characterization; Biological physics; Biologisk fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Genetics is among the most rewarding fields of biology for the theoretically inclined, offering both room and need for modeling approaches in the light of an abundance of experimental data of different kinds. Many aspects of the field are today understood in terms of physical and chemical models, joined by information theoretical descriptions. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The 14-3-3 protein family - Conserved structure, diverse functions

    Författare :Magnus Rosenquist; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; regulation; phosphorylation; plant; plasma membrane; fusicoccin; H ATPase; binding motifs; specificity; evolution; 14-3-3; isoforms; Plant biochemistry; Växtbiokemi;

    Sammanfattning : While once abstruse, 14-3-3 proteins are now well known as players in several cellular processes. These processes range from apoptosis and mitosis in mammals and yeast, to regulation of primary metabolism in plants. To date, 104 proteins have been shown to interact with 14-3-3s of which 85 are found in mammals and yeast, and 21 are found in plants. LÄS MER
