    Sammanfattning : In this thesis I will compare and contrast the two willow warbler subspecies (Phylloscopus trochilus trochilus and P. t. acredula) with differing migratory phenotypes (or "migratype") in the context of their migratory divide and hybrid zone in central Sweden. Their migratory programs differ in the direction and distance traveled during migration. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Autism syndromes in three behavioural phenotype conditions. A clinical psychiatric study of 76 individuals with Möbius sequence, CHARGE syndrome, and oculo-auriculo-vertebral spectrum

    Sammanfattning : AUTISM SYNDROMES IN THREE BEHAVIOURAL PHENOTYPE CONDITIONS A clinical psychiatric study of 76 individuals with Möbius sequence, CHARGE syndrome, and oculoauriculovertebral spectrum Maria Johansson Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Göteborg University, Sweden Abstract Objectives: (1) Examine the prevalence of autism syndromes in three different Behavioural Phenotype Conditions (BPCs), (2) examine background and associated factors/conditions, and (3) describe and evaluate diagnostic difficulties in this field of research. Method: As part of multidisciplinary surveys of Möbius sequence (Möbius) (n=25), CHARGE syndrome (CHARGE) (n=31) and oculoauriculovertebral spectrum (OAV) (n=20), the occurrence of autism symptoms was assessed utilizing the DSM-III-R and DSM-IV checklists for autistic disorder (AD), the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R), the Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS) and the Autistic Behavior Checklist (ABC). 3. 3. Phenotypic and social effects on behavioural trade-offs in Eurasian perch

    Författare :Gustav Hellström; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Trading between conflicting demands is a fundamental part in how animals interact with its environment and social surrounding. Knowledge of what factors that are affecting behavioural decisions is central in our understanding of animal adaptation and ecology. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Predation as a driver of reproductive isolation - from adaptive divergence to hybrid inviability

    Författare :Varpu Pärssinen; Enhet akvatisk ekologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; reproductive isolation; ecological speciation; predation; adaptive radiation; evolution; behaviour; fish;

    Sammanfattning : Natural selection can play an important role in the origin of new species. When reproductive isolation evolves as a result of ecologically-based divergent natural selection, the process is referred to as ecological speciation. In most organisms, sufficient reproductive isolation is considered to be essential for the establishment of new species. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Early domestication? : Phenotypic alterations of Red Junglefowl selected for divergent fear of humans

    Författare :Beatrix Agnvall; Per Jensen; Hannah Rowland; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Domestication is the process through which animals adapt to conditions provided by humans. The domesticated phenotype differs from wild ancestors in a number of traits relating to physiology, morphology and behaviour. LÄS MER
