  1. 31. Long-term exposure to air pollution from road traffic and development of airway and allergic diseases in children

    Författare :Olena Gruzieva; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Allergic diseases are of great public health concern and constitute one of the most prevalent childhood illnesses. Air pollution exposure is related to several types of adverse health effects. LÄS MER

  2. 32. Identification and characterization of allergen components of the opportunistic yeast Malassezia furfur

    Författare :Arezou Zargari; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :allergen; atopic dermatitis; baculovirus; Candida albicans; CAP RAST; cDNA; confocal laser scanning microscopy; Escherichia coli; IgE; Malassezia furfur; monoclonal antibody; Pityrosporum orbiculare; recombinant allergen; yeast.;

    Sammanfattning : The yeast Malassezia furfur (Pityrosporum orbiculare) is a member of the human normal skin microflora. It has been suggested that this yeast plays an important role in the pathogenesis of atopic dermatitis (AD). In 40-65% of patients with AD anti-M. furfur activity has been shown with skin tests and/or specific IgE serology. LÄS MER

  3. 33. Human milk factors and atopy in early childhood

    Författare :Karel Duchén M.; Olle Hernell; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

  4. 34. Immunological and inflammatory mechanisms in ocular allergy with special reference to vernal keratoconjunctivitis : clinical and experimental studies

    Författare :Per Montan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :allergic conjunctivitis; allergen challenge; atopy; conjunctival biopsy; eosinophils; ECP; IgE; immunohistochemistry; inflammation; interleukins; T-cells; tears; vernal keratoconjunctivitis;

    Sammanfattning : Ocular allergy encompasses a wide range of conditions, most of which implicate IgE in the pathogenesis. In contrast to the benign nature of seasonal allergic conjunctivitis (SAC), the less common chronic eye diseases vernal and atopic keratoconjunctivitis (VKC and AKC) are severe and debilitating disorders. 5. 35. Immunological studies of adenoids in children : relation to atopy

    Författare :Georgios Papatziamos; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Adenoids; atopy; flow cytometry; immunohistochemistry; IgE; IL-2; IL-4; IFN-gamma; epsilonGL transcripts; IgE cells; IgE plasma cells;

    Sammanfattning : The nasopharyngeal tonsil or adenoids is in constant interaction with our environment with every breath we take. This organ, rich in B cells, contains all the immunocompetent cells necessary for an interaction with T cells, exerted through secretion of cytokines and resulting in the production of immunoglobulins and the formation of memory cells.
