  2. 27. Mother and newborn adaptations after birth : influence of administration of oxytocin and epidural analgesia during labour

    Författare :Wibke Jonas; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Blood pressure; breastfeeding; epidural analgesia; labour; maternal personality pattern; newborn temperature; oxytocin; postpartum; prolactin; skin-to-skin contact.;

    Sammanfattning : Aims: This thesis explores postpartum physiological and psychological adaptations in mothers and newborns in the short-and long-term perspective. The thesis further explores the influence of labour ward interventions, such as epidural analgesia (EDA) and exogenous administration of oxytocin on these adaptations. LÄS MER

  3. 28. Dynamics of descending inhibition and neuroendocrine analgesia with special reference to the trigeminal region

    Författare :Anna Feldreich; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : In patients with pain, it is of relevance to use clinical assessments that evaluate the pain modulation. In this thesis, the dynamics of descending inhibition or central sensitization and neuroendocrine analgesia were investigated: in healthy volunteers; in patients with chronic closed lock of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), before and after discectomy; and finally in patients with possible neuropathic pain, (atypical odontalgia). 4. 29. Long-term effects of acupuncture

    Författare :Christer Carlsson; Neurokirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Physical medicine; stress-induced analgesia.; strong vs gentle stimulation; vomiting; nausea; hyperemesis gravidarum; urine incontinence; C-fibre response; WDR neurons; manual acupuncture; long term effects; pain categories; chronic low back pain; Acupuncture; randomised placebo-controlled trial; kinesitherapy; revalidation; rehabilitation; Rehabilitering medicinsk och social ; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : In a retrospective follow-up study, n=202, long-term pain relief (>6 months) after a course of acupuncture treatments was found mainly among patients with chronic nociceptive pain while patients with neurogenic or psychogenic pain did not benefit much. In a placebo-controlled randomised single-blind long-term study with independent observer of chronic nociceptive low back pain, n=50, it was found that acupuncture, was significantly superior to true placebo in all outcome measurements, even more than 6 months after the treatment series. 5. 30. Lung function after cardiac surgery : With special reference to atelectasis and ventilation-perfusion relationships

    Författare :Arne Tenling; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Cardiac surgery; thoracic epidural analgesia; vital capacity manoeuvre; computed tomography; ventilation-perfusion relationships; gas exchange; atelectasis; respiratory inductive plethysmography; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; anestesiologi; Anaesthesiology;

    Sammanfattning : Patients undergoing cardiac surgery were investigated before and after the operation.Ventilation-perfusion (VA/Q) relationships were examined by the multiple inert gas elimination method, and atelectasis and aeration of the lungs were examined by computedtomography (CT). LÄS MER
