  1. 1. Selector Technology : For Multiplex DNA Analysis

    Författare :Fredrik Dahl; Mats Nilsson; Ulf Landegren; Ivo Glynne Gut; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Genetic engineering; DNA technology; Genteknik; Genetic engineering including functional genomics; Genteknik inkl. funktionsgenomik;

    Sammanfattning : A majority of methods for identifying sequences in the human genome involve target sequence amplification through PCR. This work presents novel methods for amplifying circularized DNA and presents solutions for some major limitations of PCR. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Technology Platforms: Organizing and Assessing Technological Knowledge to Support its Reuse in New Applications

    Författare :Daniel Corin Stig; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; technology management; knowledge reuse; technology platforms; platform thinking; core capabilities; technology development; technology reuse; technology transfer; knowledge management; knowledge repositories;

    Sammanfattning : Companies that develop a wide range of products often strive to exploit opportunities for synergy among them. Many products that cannot share components can still offer opportunities for synergy as they build upon the same technologies and know-how for their development and production. LÄS MER

    Författare :Darío Sánchez Martín; Teresa Zardán Gómez de la Torre; Maria Strömme; Mahiar Hamedi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; DNA amplification; isothermal amplification; visual detection; nanoparticles; VAM-NDA; rolling circle amplification; phi29 DNA polymerase; padlock probes.; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot nanoteknologi och funktionella material; Engineering Science with specialization in Nanotechnology and Functional Materials;

    Sammanfattning : Antibiotic resistance is becoming an increasing concern, necessitating new ways to diagnose and treat it rapidly and accurately. One proposed solution is the use of nucleic acid amplification tests, capable of detecting resistance in just a few hours, as opposed to the several days that traditional testing methods may require. 5. 5. Micro-scale Platforms for Investigations of Biological Structures

    Författare :Anna Kim; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; microfabrication; non-ionic surfactants; single-cell viability; hydrodynamic flow confinement; cell-to-cell connections; SU-8; Teflon AF; cell protrusions; free-standing probes; millimeter-waves;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the development of innovative micro-scale platforms as a means to address the current challenges within the field of cell biology, and to provide an interface between miniaturized analytical technology and experimental systems for the life sciences. The work includes an analytical platform for rapid assessment of the viability of adherent single cells; a surface patterning strategy for investigations of cell-to-cell communication via protrusions; a versatile microfluidic probe in SU-8 hard-polymer, and a microfabricated millimeter-wave measurement system for the identification and characterization of niosome (non-ionic surfactant vesicle) constituents, which is operated in a label-free, non-invasive manner.
