  1. 6. Oil consumption and Friction in a Piston Ring-Cylinder Liner assembly.-A multifunctional Surface Approach

    Författare :Cecilia Anderberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cylinder liner surface; surface characterization; oil consumption; surface texture parameters;

    Sammanfattning : About a half of the frictional losses in an internal combustion engine come from the interactions between the piston assembly and cylinder liner surface. The tribological considerations in the contact between the piston ring and cylinder liner have attracted much attention over the past few decades. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Characterisation of Functional Pressing Die Surfaces

    Författare :Johan C Berglund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; functional correlation; functional surface; functional filtration; pressing die; multi-scale analysis; characterisation; finish milling; texture anisotropy; polishing; surface topography;

    Sammanfattning : The manufacture of dies and moulds is a critical aspect of many production systems since the manufacturing and try-out of new dies and moulds often is essential in determining the lead-time and quality of a new production system. In the automotive industry, many new car models are introduced each year and for each of these models, a new set of pressing dies has to be designed and manufactured. LÄS MER

  3. 8. On Surface Topography of Steel Sheet for Car Bodies

    Författare :Magnus Jonasson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; paint appearance; forming; steel sheet; bearing area; 3D surface roughness; area parameters; ball filter; friction; surface topography;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is a contribution to the scientific area of surface topography on sheet metal surfaces. The studies are restricted to exploring the influence of the steel sheet,s surface topography on forming properties and on appearance after painting. LÄS MER

  4. 9. High volumetric machining strategies for superalloy gasturbine components : Comparing conventional and nonconventional machining methods for efficient manufacturing

    Författare :Jonas Holmberg; Johan Berglund; Anders Wretland; Tomas Beno; Joel Andersson; Sten Johansson; RISE; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Alloy 718; High volumetric machining; Conventional and Nonconventional machining; Material removal rate; Post processing; surface integrity; Residual stress; Microstructure; Deformation; Manufacturing; Surface and Joining Technology; Bearbetnings-; yt- och fogningsteknik; Production Technology;

    Sammanfattning : There is a strong industrial driving force to find alternative manufacturing technologies in order to make the production of aero engine components of superalloys even more efficient than it is today. Introducing new and nonconventional machining technologies, as well as enhanced utilisation of today's high volumetric manufacturing, allows taking a leap to increase the material removal rate and the productivity. 5. 10. Fouling and cleaning of solid surfaces. The influence of surface characteristics and operating conditions

    Författare :Camilla Karlsson; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Food and drink technology; ellipsometry; sodium hydroxide; anionic surfactant; betalactoglobulin; protein; stainless steel; hydrophilic surface; hydrophobic surface; cleaning; adsorption; fouling; Livsmedelsteknik; Chemical technology and engineering; Kemiteknik och kemisk teknologi;

    Sammanfattning : The severe fouling common in food processing puts high demands on equipment cleaning. Adsorption of the protein betalactoglobulin to solid surfaces and its subsequent removal were followed using in situ ellipsometry. Most experiments were done in a stirred cuvette. Additionally, a flow cell was designed, which was employed in some work. LÄS MER
