16. The impact of estrogens on leukocyte function in remodeling of extracellular matrix
Sammanfattning : Background: Major reproductive events such as menstruation, ovulation, implantation and cervical ripening are characterized by an increased number of invading leukocytes in the tissues. Sex steroid hormones, particularly estrogens, play an important role in these changes. LÄS MER
17. Bestrophin-3: Localization and function in normal and injured tissues
Sammanfattning : Bestrophin-3 (Best3) is a protein with multiple functions. It can constitute a calcium-activated chloride channel when overexpressed in cultured cells, but the function of Best3 is not well studied in cells in situ. Recently Best3 protein was suggested to play also cell-protective role. LÄS MER
18. Using Minisequencing Technology for Analysing Genetic Variation in DNA and RNA
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, the four-color fluorescence tag-microarray minisequencing system pioneered by our group was further developed and applied for analysing genetic variation in human DNA and RNA. A SNP marker panel representing different chromosomal regions was established and used for identification of informative SNP markers for monitoring chimerism after stem cell transplantation (SCT). 19. Mass spectrometry based proteomics : data analysis and applications
Sammanfattning : Mass spectrometry (MS) based proteomics has become a widely used high throughput method to investigate protein expression and functional regulation. From being able to study only dozens of proteins, state-of-art MS proteomic techniques are now able to identify and quantify ten thousand proteins. LÄS MER
20. Integration of epigenetic, transcriptomic and proteomic data
Sammanfattning : One of the scopes of Systems Biology is to propose mathematical models that best capture the dynamic behavior of intra-cellular processes. In this regard, the last two decades have brought up a shift in the field, with technological advances now allowing researchers to access a wide range of high-throughput technologies at an affordable cost.
