1. Modeling defect structure evolution in spent nuclear fuel container materials
Sammanfattning : Materials intended for disposal of spent nuclear fuel require a particular combination of physical and chemical properties. The driving forces and mechanisms underlying the material’s behavior must be scientifically understood in order to enable modeling at the relevant time- and length-scales. LÄS MER
2. Numerical Modeling of Plasticity in FCC Crystalline Materials Using Discrete Dislocation Dynamics
Sammanfattning : Plasticity in crystalline solids is controlled by the microscopic line defects known as “dislocations”. Decisive role of dislocations in crystal plasticity in addition to fundamentals of plastic deformation are presented in the current thesis work. LÄS MER
3. Homochiral crystals for selective synthesis
Sammanfattning : Six new coordination compounds were prepared from monodentate sulfide ligands and copper(I) halides and their crystal structures were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The aim was to prepare coordination polymers that crystallize as conglomerates in order to use them in total spontaneous resolution. LÄS MER
4. Resonant Soft X-ray Spectroscopic Studies of Light Actinides and Copper Systems
Sammanfattning : Light actinides and copper systems were studied using resonant soft X-ray spectroscopy. An instrumental and experimental setup for soft X-ray spectroscopy meeting the requirements of a closed source for radioactivity was developed and described in detail. The setup was used for studies of single-crystal PuO2 oxidation. LÄS MER
5. New Cu-I cluster compounds with luminescent properties
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis has been to investigate how the synthesis route, choice of solvent and counter-ions effects the crystallization of Cu(I)I systems, and to investigate the correlation between the structure and luminescence properties of the systems. In order to do so a series of compounds based on an anion containing Cu(I)I, stabilized by organic cations have been produced. LÄS MER
