11. Prediction of Thermo-Acoustic Properties in Combustion Chambers
Sammanfattning : Design and analysis methods for gas turbine combustors or afterburners need to be improved in particular regarding the prediction of combustion instabilities. A methodology, which combines the use of a linearized flow solver and the Arnoldi algorithm for eigenmode extraction, resolves eigenmodes which are candidates to these instabilities. LÄS MER
12. Attenuation correction in pulmonary and myocardial single photon emission computed tomography
Sammanfattning : The objective was to develop and validate methods for single photon emission computed tomography, SPECT, allowing quantitative physiological and diagnostic studies of lung and heart. A method for correction of variable attenuation in SPECT, based on transmission measurements before administration of an isotope to the subject, was developed and evaluated. LÄS MER
13. Multilevel Power Converters with Smart Control for Wave Energy Conversion
Sammanfattning : The main focus of this thesis is on the power electronic converter system challenges associated with the grid integration of variable-renewable-energy (VRE) sources like wave, marine current, tidal, wind, solar etc. Wave energy conversion with grid integration is used as the key reference, considering its high energy potential to support the future clean energy requirements and due the availability of a test facility at Uppsala University. 14. Application of Laser-based Diagnostics to a Prototype Gas Turbine Burner at Selected Pressures
Sammanfattning : The matured laser-diagnostic techniques of planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) and particle image velocimetry (PIV) were applied to a prototype gas turbine burner operating on various fuels. The work was performed to provide verification of computational fluid dynamic (CFD) models of the combustion of atypical fuels in a gas turbine combustor. LÄS MER
15. Improved Steam Turbine Design for Optimum Efficiency and Reduced Cost of Ownership
Sammanfattning : The cost of ownership of a power plant is partly governed by the efficiency of the turbine island. The turbine stands for the production revenues when transforming the energy in fuel into electric power and district heating. LÄS MER
