6. Accurate Finite Difference Methods for Option Pricing
Sammanfattning : Stock options are priced numerically using space- and time-adaptive finite difference methods. European options on one and several underlying assets are considered. These are priced with adaptive numerical algorithms including a second order method and a more accurate method. LÄS MER
7. Solar Wind and Geomagnetic Activity - Predictions Using Neural Networks
Sammanfattning : This thesis shows how artificial neural networks (ANNs) can be applied to predict geomagnetic activity from solar-wind data. It introduces and summarizes five papers where development of ANN models are reported, and where predictions of geomagnetic activity are discussed. LÄS MER
8. Metamodel Based Multi-Objective Optimization with Finite-Element Applications
Sammanfattning : As a result of the increase in accessibility of computational resources and the increase of computer power during the last two decades, designers are able to create computer models to simulate the behavior of complex products. To address global competitiveness, companies are forced to optimize the design of their products and production processes. LÄS MER
9. Modeling and simulation of rotary bell spray atomizers in automotive paint shops
Sammanfattning : The paint and surface treatment processes in automotive paint shops are characterized by multiphase and free surface flows, multiphysics interactions, multiscale phenomena, and large moving geometries. The current version of the software for simulation of spray painting developed at the Fraunhofer-Chalmers Centre relies on measurements of droplet size distributions and velocity profiles below the applicator that can be used as input to the simulations. 10. The proprioception and neuromuscular stability of the basal thumb joint
Sammanfattning : OBJECTIVES: The basal thumb joint, or the first carpometacarpal joint (CMC1) is an enigmatic construction. The concavo-convex shape of the CMC1 and wide range of movement, allows for both precision and power grips and is particularly susceptible to the development of osteoarthritis. LÄS MER
