  1. 1. To leak or not to leak? : Land‐Use Displacement and Carbon Leakage from Forest Conservation

    Författare :Sabine Henders; Madelene Ostwald; Martin Persson; Julie Wilk; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Climate change; land‐use change and deforestation; accounting methods; consumer and producer responsibility; REDD ; Klimatförändring; markanvändning och avskogning; redovisningsmetoder; konsument‐ och producentansvaret; REDD ;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the question how emissions from land‐use displacement can be assessed and accounted for, using the example of carbon‐leakage accounting in the planned UNFCCC mechanism on ‘Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation’ (REDD). REDD serves here as example of an international forest conservation policy that might be effective locally but could lead to displacement of deforestation to other countries. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Words Matter in the Woods : Discourses on Deforestation in Global Climate Politics

    Författare :Tobias Nielsen; Statsvetenskapliga institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Global climate politics; deforestation; REDD ; UNFCCC; argumentative discourse analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Over the past decade, avoiding deforestation has become a central element of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The focal point of this has been the incentive-based mechanism of REDD+, which stands for Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Natural and social dimensions of forest carbon accounting

    Författare :Wilhelm Dubber; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Forest carbon fluxes; REDD ; boreal forest; LPJ-GUESS; BIOME-BGC; remote sensing;

    Sammanfattning : Global forests store large amounts of carbon both in living biomass and in the soil. The ability of forests to counteract climate change by acting as carbon sinks have been recognized in global climate politics, such as the 2015 Paris agreement which calls for national commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. 4. 4. Forest and land use mitigation and adaptation in Sri Lanka – Aspects in the light of international climate change policies

    Författare :Eskil Mattsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; land use; Sri Lanka; REDD ; CDM; deforestation; biomass; carbon stock; forest; carbon stock; biomass; forest; land use; deforestation; Sri Lanka; REDD ; CDM;

    Sammanfattning : As a developing island nation, Sri Lanka is vulnerable to the possible impacts of climate change. The land use and forestry sector accounts for a large part of Sri Lanka’s greenhouse gas emissions and can play a major part of Sri Lanka’s strategy to mitigate and adapt to climate change. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Essays on Behavioral Economics and Policies for Provision of Ecosystem Services

    Författare :Anna Nordén; Göteborgs universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Forests provide key ecosystem services such as clean water, timber, habitat for fisheries, carbon sequestration, pollination, and biodiversity. However, many of these services are being lost or degraded at a furious pace, brought about by human activity. LÄS MER
