  1. 21. Relationship between chemical structure and airway sensitizing potential for organic acid anhydrides : an animal model

    Författare :Xing-Dong Zhang; Avdelningen för arbets- och miljömedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; sensitization; immunization; predictive testing; low-molecular-weight chemicals; chemical respiratory allergy; hypersensitivity; rats; guinea pigs; structure-activity-relationship; occupational asthma; organic acid anhydrides; IgG1; IgE; Occupational health; industrial medicine; Yrkesmedicin; arbetsmiljömedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Oranic acid anhydrides (OAAs) are important reactive, low-molecular-weight industrial chemicals which induce allergic rhinitis and asthma in exposed subjects. Specific IgE has been demonstrated in a large proportion of OAA-exposed workers. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Executive functions and ERP Biomarkers in children and adolescents with ADHD and Autism

    Författare :Linda Angelica Häger; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Supplementary biomarkers; Child psychiatry; ADHD; Autism; Executive function; Neuropsychological tests; Event related potentials; EEG;

    Sammanfattning : Executive Functions (EF) refers to skills that help us initiate, organize and evaluate activities. Problems with EF are associated with neurodevelopmental disorders such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). LÄS MER

  3. 23. Diagnostic aspects of urinary tract infections among elderly residents of nursing homes

    Författare :Pär-Daniel Sundvall; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Bacteriuria; Nursing Homes; Homes for the Aged; Urinary Tract Infections; Predictive Value of Tests; Dipstick Urinalysis; Interleukin-6; Drug Resistance; Bacterial.;

    Sammanfattning : ABSTRACT Background: Up to half the residents of nursing homes for the elderly have asymptomatic bacteriuria (ABU), which should not be treated with antibiotics. Thus, it is difficult to know if new symptoms in residents with bacteriuria are caused by urinary tract infection (UTI), or if bacteriuria only represents an ABU. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Fall prediction and a high-intensity functional exercise programme to improve physical functions and to prevent falls among older people living in residential care facilities

    Författare :Erik Rosendahl; Lars Nyberg; Yngve Gustafson; Gun-Britt Jarnlo; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; aged; frail elderly; cognition disorders; residential facilities; randomized controlled trials; exercise; exercise therapy; nutrition; predictive value of tests; accidental falls: prevention control; Physiotherapy; Sjukgymnastik fysioterapi;

    Sammanfattning : Impairments in balance, mobility, and lower-limb strength are common in the growing population of older people and can lead to dramatic consequences for the individual, such as dependency in activities of daily living, admission to nursing home, falls, and fractures. The main purposes of this thesis were, among older people in residential care facilities, to validate a fall-risk assessment tool and to evaluate a high-intensity functional weight-bearing exercise pro-gramme regarding its applicability as well as its effect on physical functions and falls.
