21. Skådespelaren i handling : Strategier för tanke och kropp
Sammanfattning : In the thesis, that has its basis in my educational work at Malmö Theatre Academy, I discuss how actors in training solve the problem of embodying the role ? how they, from their ideas, feelings, thoughts and knowledge create the physical actions of the role. My discussion has its basis in how the training in acrobatics can form a sort of model for the strategies needed by the actor to perform on stage. LÄS MER
22. Strings, boundary fermions and coincident D-branes
Sammanfattning : The appearance in string theory of higher-dimensional objects known as D-branes has been a source of much of the interesting developements in the subject during the past ten years. A very interesting phenomenon occurs when several of these D-branes are made to coincide: The abelian gauge theory living on each brane is enhanced to a non-abelian gauge theory living on the stack of coincident branes. 23. Nanofabrication of Single Electron Transistors and Evaluation of Miniature Biosensors
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with miniaturization in two different fields: electronics and biosensing. The first part deals with fabrication and measurements of two nanoscale structures - a self-assembled single electron transistor and a (potential) single junction device. LÄS MER
24. Constructing the six-dimensional (2,0) theories
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we give a brief review of the six-dimensional(2,0) theories and how they emerge from the study of string/M-theory. In particular, the A_N version of (2,0) theory is the world-volume theory of N+1 parallel M5-branes in the limit where gravity decouples. LÄS MER
25. Smooth particles and exotic strings
Sammanfattning : During the last few decades quantum gauge field theories in general, and the Electroweak Standard Model in particular, have been very successful in the description of the fundamental constituents of matter and their interactions. However, such models all meet with severe shortcomings, e.g. LÄS MER
