   Sammanfattning : The objectives of this thesis were to assess the validity of the diagnostic codes for ankylosing spondylitis and undifferentiated spondyloarthritis in the national patient register (study I), and to estimate the prevalence of ankylosing spondylitis in Sweden, as well as to compare the prevalence according to geographic and demographic factors (study II). Further, to compare inflammatory back pain, and perceived health, in different subtypes of spondyloarthritis (study III), and to investigate predictive associations between perinatal characteristics, and childhood infections, with later development of ankylosing spondylitis (study IV and V).    Sammanfattning : A general synthetic route from vinylepoxides to vinylaziridines via 1,2-amino alcohols was developed. The 1,2-amino alcohols were obtained from a stereospecific and regioselective aminolysis of vinylepoxides. The synthetic scope of the aminolysis could be expanded by the use of a microwave-assisted protocol. LÄS MER

   Sammanfattning : The main question of this thesis is if a practice is right because it is prescribed by an ethical theory, or if an ethical theory is right because it follows from certain practices? I propose the following definitions to illustrate the main alternatives: (1) if a practice is determined by an ethical theory and the ethical theory is not determined by practice, it is possible to speak of a top-down model of ethical thinking. (2) If a theory, conversely, is determined by a practice and the practice is not determined by theory, it can be described as a bottom-up model. LÄS MER
