1. Proteomic profiles and gene expressions in the symbiotically competent cyanobacterium Nostoc sp. PCC 73102
Sammanfattning : Nostoc PCC 73102 is an evolutionary important cyanobacterium with multiple phenotypic traits and symbiotic capacities. Based on two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DE) and MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry, a proteomic approach was developed in order to obtain protein profiles of this symbiotically competent cyanobacterium during three trophic types/life stages: free-living photo-autotrophic and diazotrophic growth conditions, dark heterotrophic conditions and hormogonium formation. 3. Hydrogenases in the Cyanobacterium Nostoc sp. Strain PCC 73102
Sammanfattning : Many cyanobacteria are capable of fixing atmospheric N2, a reaction that is also producing H2. This hydrogen is often metabolized by an enzyme called hydrogenase. The aim of the present work was to identify and characterize hydrogen metabolism/hydrogenases in the free-living N2-fixing cyanobacterium Nostoc sp.strain PCC 73102. LÄS MER
4. Maturation and Regulation of Cyanobacterial Hydrogenases
Sammanfattning : Accelerated global warming plus an increasing need for energy is an equation not easily solved, thus new forms of sustainable energy production are urgently requested. In this context hydrogen production based on a cyanobacterial system offers an environmentally friendly alternative for energy capture and conversion. LÄS MER
5. Cyanobacterial Hydrogen Metabolism - Uptake Hydrogenase and Hydrogen Production by Nitrogenase in Filamentous Cyanobacteria
Sammanfattning : Molecular hydrogen is a potential energy carrier for the future. Nitrogen-fixing cyanobacteria are a group of photosynthetic microorganisms with the inherent ability to produce molecular hydrogen via the enzyme complex nitrogenase. This hydrogen is not released, however, but is recaptured by the bacteria using an uptake hydrogenase. LÄS MER
