  1. 26. Molecular characterization of phenothiazines in experimental cancer therapy : new tricks of an old drug revealed

    Författare :Dali Zong; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Cancer is characterized by uncontrolled malignant proliferation of cells that eventually interfere with tissue/organ functions. Traditionally, cancer is treated with chemo- and/or radiotherapy when surgery is not an option. Unfortunately, the efficacy of conventional anti-cancer chemotherapy is severely limited by therapy resistance. LÄS MER

  2. 27. Genetic determinants of lung cancer and their application toward therapeutics. The role of ZFP148 transcription factor and anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) fusion proteins in non-small cell lung cancer

    Författare :Abdulmalik Bokhari; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Zfp148; TP53; ALK; EML4-ALK; brigatinib; lorlatinib; RRM2; alectinib;

    Sammanfattning : Lung cancer causes severe morbidity and mortality in millions of patients globally each year. Anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) mutations facilitate neoplastic growth of lung cancer in adults and neuroblastoma in pediatric patients. LÄS MER

  3. 28. Apoptosis, cellular division or mitotic catastrophe? Effects of kinase inhibition and DNa damage in lung cancer cells

    Författare :Anna Therése Helén Hemström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells are generally characterized by a low response to conventional anti-cancer agents, such as DNA-damaging drugs. Treatments that induce DNA damage relies on cellular signalling resulting in the induction of growth arrest and apoptotic cell death. LÄS MER

  4. 29. ROR1 – a druggable target : preclinical studies of ROR1 and combinatorial partners in malignancies

    Författare :Amineh Ghaderi; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Cancer cells are masters of adaption, and their ability to sustain proliferative signaling presents a complicated challenge to cancer treatment. Therefore, novel drugs that attack key drivers of cancer cell growth are urgently needed. LÄS MER

  5. 30. Molecular aspects of cellular radiosensitivity in small cell lung carcinoma

    Författare :Florin Sirzén; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :lung carcinoma; radiosensitivity; DNA double-strand breaks; DNA-dependent protein kinase; cell cycle checkpoints; apoptosis;

    Sammanfattning : To clarify some important molecular aspects of radiosensitivity (RS) in small cell (SCLC) compared with non small cell (NSCLC) lung carcinoma, five studies focusing on DNA damage repair, cell cycle checkpoints and apoptosis were performed. As repair of DNA double-strand breaks (DNA dsb), a critical DNA lesion, may be an important determinant of cellular RS, induction and rejoining of DNA dsb were studied using pulsed field gel electrophoresis in a radiosensitive SCLC line, U-1285 and a radioresistant NSCLC line, U-1810 (paper I).
