  1. 1. Metabolism-dependent taxis and control of motility in Pseudomonas putida

    Författare :Sofia Österberg; Vicky Shingler; Caroline Harwood; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Motility; c-di-GMP; metabolism-dependent taxis; receptors; transcription; Pseudomonas putida; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Bacteria living in soil and aquatic habitats rapidly adapt to changes in physico-chemical parameters that influence their energy status and thus their ability to proliferate and survive. One immediate survival strategy is to relocate to more metabolically optimal environments. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Cell signalling in cancer. A functional and immunochemical investigation of purinergic,adrenergic, nitrergic, and prostaglandin mediated signalling mechanisms in experimental and human cancer

    Författare :Gunnar Nylund; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :adenosine-5´-triphosphate; colon cancer; extracellular acidification; melanoma; ; microphysiometer; nitric oxide; noradrenaline; prostaglandin E2; sarcoma; tumour cell; metabolism; uridine-5´-triphosphate;

    Sammanfattning : Disturbed cell signalling is a hallmark of the cancer cell, being one important mechanismbehind uncontrolled cell growth. In the current study, we have investigated cancer cellsignalling with the focus on some first messenger and/or their receptors, in the murine celllines, MCG 101, and K1735-M2, and the human colon cancer cell line, HT-29. 3. 3. Adenosine A2A receptors : characterization, localization, G protein coupling and interactions with dopamine D2 receptors

    Författare :Björn Kull; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Adenosine receptors; receptor-receptor interactions; G proteins; species differences;

    Sammanfattning : Adenosine not only has a role in cellular energy metabolism but is recognized as an intercellular messenger with an important function in physiology and pathophysiology. It exerts its effects via a family of G protein coupled receptors of which four members have been cloned from several species: A, A2A, A2B and A3. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Adrenergic Receptors Regulating cAMP Generation and Thermogenesis in Isolated Brown Adipocytes

    Författare :Jin Zhao; Roger J. Summers; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; zoofysiologi; Zoological physiology;

    Sammanfattning : Adrenoceptors are the functional receptors in brown adipocytes. In the present study, the second messenger cAMP - and thermogenesis (which is an index of the energy metabolism of brown adipocytes) - were measured in order to reveal the intricate mechanism of effects generated by various adrenoceptor interactions with agonists and antagonists on brown adipocytes from hamster, mouse and rat. 5. 5. Studies of cannabinoid receptor 1 in mantle cell lymphoma

    Författare :Kristin Gustafsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a malignant B-cell lymphoma that affects older individuals and has a male predominance. MCL has one of the worst prognoses among lymphomas and currently there is a search for a curative therapy. LÄS MER
